Greetings!
I read an interesting article in the September 24th issue of Advertising Age, "No More 'Shrinking it and Pinking It' at Under Armour" just recently. The article regarding Under Amour's entry into the women's market and the daunting task they face at proving that their male-centric brand has room for a women's line resonated with me on how companies in our industry market to women. The "shrinking it and pinking it" has also been a prevailing mind-set within the firearms industry. Women prefer small guns because they have small hands and pink is for girls - or so the thought process goes in marketing departments within many of our companies. Under Armour's new pitch line is "No matter what, sweat every day. I will." Under Armour is counting on reaching out and becoming a part of the female athletic / exercise phenomena, based upon research that shows the growing number of women and girls participating in sports.
And that growing number is also occurring in the firearms industry. However, we still see a number of companies utilizing the "shrink it and pink it" mentality. With a growing number of women working within the industry and in many cases, leading companies, I believe we are slowly seeing a paradigm shift on marketing to women. We see a rise in women's only firearms courses and women-centric firearms and outdoor related websites. We see more women taking up the sport and participating in competitions.
Yes, we may like pink and we may like small guns, but we also like feeling confident and skilled. So when you are marketing to women, look up, not there, but into our eyes.

A Growing American Gunsmithing Institute (AGI) Opens Second Office

American Gunsmithing Institute (AGI) a today announced the grand opening of a new sales office in Santa Rosa, California. The new office, which opened officially on September 10th, 2012, is currently home to a team of six student counselors and has plans to expand that number by the end of fiscal year 2012.

To our valued customers:
As the inventor of the DoubleTap™ pistol and owner of the design and utility patents, along with other intellectual property including the DoubleTap™ name, I am issuing this press release to inform our loyal customers of the current status of the production of this new innovative pistol.
Since we introduced the DoubleTap™ Tactical Pocket Pistol in November of last year, we have been overwhelmed by the industry reception; the popularity confirmed by literally tens of thousands of orders placed by consumers to their dealers, through our distributor partners.
Unfortunately, with the deepest regret, today I announce that we have terminated our relationship with HEIZER DEFENSE, our manufacturing partner, due to their inability to manufacture the DoubleTap™ pistol. I cannot comment further on this subject at this time, under advice from legal counsel, due to pending litigation.
It is our intention to immediately license the design to a leading firearms manufacturer or to align with another manufacturing source to produce the DoubleTap™. We intend to accomplish this as quickly as possible to satisfy the huge demand for the DoubleTap™ pistol. I will make a further announcement as soon as we have established a new manufacturing agreement.

Revision Military Wins Contract to Supply Danish Military with Next Generation Helmets and Helmet-Mounted Protective Equipment

Revision Military secures a landmark contract to supply the Danish Military with the Batlskin™ Cobra Helmet-an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene shell-as well as components of the Batlskin Modular Head Protection system. Part of a 7-year contract, the company is set to deliver an initial 4,335 Batlskin Cobra helmet systems including a high-performance liner, ergonomic Retention System and multipurpose Front Mount. The 4,335 complete systems are to be delivered to the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO), which will have the option to purchase additional Batlskin helmet-mounted components including the Batlskin Visor and Mandible Guard.
