Celebrate Constitution Day: September 17, 2014

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." United States Constitution, Preamble

On September 17, 1787, the U.S. Constitution was signed by thirty-nine brave men. Pause and remember to say to your fellow citizen "Happy Constitution Day!" this September 17, 2014.

In the summer of 1787 delegates convened in Philadelphia to create "a more perfect union" and to craft our Nation's constitution. These founding fathers worked to develop a framework that would provide balance and freedom, enumerated government powers, and protected individual human rights. The delegates signed the Constitution of the United States 223 years ago today.

The Constitution stands as a model of cooperative statesmanship, the art of compromise and the guarantor of our liberties. As we go about our busy day, let us all take a moment to pause and celebrate the freedoms and rights guaranteed to us by the Constitution.
