Rebuilding Together

Once again Jim Paradise donated time to help with the Newport Board of Realtors' (NCBR) Rebuilding Together project.

Rebuilding Together Crew

A single, older woman, whose Middletown home needed a list of repairs, was the beneficiary of Jim's, as well as many others, efforts.

  Serious Jim

All her furniture was moved out of the house and into a storage pod so repairs could be done. Wooden floors were sanded and new vinyl installed in the kitchen. The entire house was painted inside. New shower walls and tile were installed in the bathroom and the kitchen got new cabinets. A new shed was purchased and assembled in the yard.

The homeowner was extremely pleased with the results and looks forward to welcoming her grandchildren to her much-improved home.

Local Pizza Restaurant Suffers Fire

Our crew went to work on extensive smoke damage at West Main Pizza after they suffered a recent fire.

West Main Pizza Inside Damage

We removed, washed, packed up and stored the contents of the building, including all the dishes, equipment and furniture.

We then went back inside to remove ceiling tiles and attic insulation, deep-clean the walls, floors and attic, and to spray the attic woodwork with sealer.

We also thoroughly cleaned the entire air duct system.

West Main Pizza Sign Cropped

The owners were very pleased with the efficient and thorough service we provided. Gary and Emily Rahilly made their feelings known on their Facebook Page and during an interview with patch.com. Thank you, we enjoyed working with you and your great crew too.

Look for West Main Pizza to open again soon.

Q & A

What can I do to prevent mold?

Here are a few tips:

When water leaks occur act quickly. If damp materials are dried thoroughly within 48 hours mold will not grow in most cases.

Keep indoor humidity low, preferably below 60% by using a dehumidifier or A/C.

Vent bathrooms, clothes dryers, and stoves to the outside.

Regularly check faucets, pipes, and ductwork for leaks.

If you see condensation, act quickly to dry the wet surface and reduce the moisture source.

Clean and repair roof gutters regularly.
