Speech, Language and Hearing Screenings
|
Every fall a speech, language, and hearing screening is completed at Old Trail School. Students in the ECP programs through Grade 1 and all new students will automatically be screened during September. This screening is designed to quickly examine the speech sound production, language development and hearing of students to make a determination if further assessment is recommended. Results will be sent home in your child's backpack as soon as possible after all students in a classroom have been screened. If you have any concerns regarding your child's speech, language, and/or hearing feel free to contact Mallory Hawley (speech therapist) to discuss.
Hearing Screenings (Grades 3 & 5)
In adherence with the Ohio Department of Health regulations all students in Grades 3 and 5 must have their hearing screened by November 1. All hearing screenings for these students should be completed by the beginning of October. Results will be sent home in your child's backpack when they are completed. If you have any concerns regarding your child's hearing please contact Mallory Hawley (speech therapist).

Lawrence School Parent Programs
|
Lawrence Upper School is presenting a Community Education Series for parents this fall beginning in August. These presentations are free and open to the public.
Helping Students with Learning Differences Make and Keep Friends will be held on Mon., Aug. 25 and will feature guest speaker Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson.
Program Description - Watching children navigate peer relationships can be stressful and emotional. Some kids seem to instinctively know the rules of friendship while others struggle to feel accepted. One child gets invited everywhere, but another is routinely left out. As adults, how do we know when to step in or stay silent? Dr. Laugeson will discuss this maze and offer evidence-based techniques and strategies for helping adolescents learn how to make and keep friends.
