Dear Friends,
We're just about finished with our Inventory Project.  Apologies to those of you who ventured in while we had piles of books all around.  But now we know what's here (at least we think we do!) and we've made room for all the great new books that have come in!

Tomorrow we have two exciting events - one for the kids and one for the adults.

Saturday Author/Illustrator Storytime, 1/11, 10:30am
Nancy Viau
Look what these baby animals can do!  Encouragement to try new things.

Saturday Evening, 1/11, 5pm
Dan Hurely
 Smarter
Can you make yourself smarter? That was science journalist Dan Hurley's challenge and he embraced it fully.  Find out what he did and what you can do to be SMARTER!  Launch Party as well!

What else do we have planned this month?  Check it out.

A couple of highlights: RSVP requested.  Our YA Advisory Board is teaming up with the Montclair Public Library and the Glen Ridge Library YA Advisory Groups to host a couple of ROCK STAR YA Authors!  Gayle Forman and David Levithan are coming on January 29th, to the bookstore, at 7pm, to talk about their new books.  RSVP here.  Space is limited!

And then in February, we are so excited to co-host with the Montclair Public Library Jan-Philipp Sendker on February 6th, at 2pm.  The author of one of our all-time favorite reads, The Art of Hearing Heartbeats, will be in the US to introduce his new book, A Well-Tempered Heart.  Join us for a special afternoon at the Library with a world-reknown author.

Enjoy! Margot, Carolyn, Marina, Nicole, Marisela, Liane and Jeanne

What makes you tick?  There's one truly great way to learn about ourselves and others: ask questions.
The Question Book is just that, a book full of provocative questions, with space for you to answer.
Chang-Rae Lee

Chang-Rae Lee, author of Native Speaker, imagines a dystopian America where the "new Chinese" have taken over urban centers.  Chilling and beautiful narrative from one of our best literary voices.
Hardcover and eBook
Amanda Gefter

"This is the most charming book ever written about the fundamental nature of reality. Amanda Gefter sounds like your best friend telling you a captivating story, but really she's teaching you about some of the deepest ideas in modern physics and cosmology. Trespassing on Einstein's Lawn is a delight from start to finish."-Sean Carroll, theoretical physicist and author of The Particle at the End of the Universe. (To be released on 2/14)  Hardcover and eBook
Sunni Brown

Unlock the power to think differently.
There is NO SUCH THING as a mindless doodle  What did Einstein, JFK, Edison, Marie Curie, and Henry Ford have in common? They were all inveterate doodlers. These powerhouse minds knew instinctively that doodling is deep thinking in disguise-a simple, accessible, and dynamite tool for innovating and solving even the stickiest problems.  Hardcover
Sue Monk Kidd

For thousands of years the stories contained in the Torah have been passed down, studied, revered.  With a Mighty Hand is Ehrlich's interpretation of these stories into a single narrative, brought to life with Nevins luminous paintings.  The combination retains the complexity of the sacred text and offers families a keepsake to share.
The Exiles Return
Elisabeth du Waal

Edmund de Waal,
The Hare with Amber Eyes, discovered this
as a "yellowing typescript" among the few belongings he inherited from his grandmother after her passing.  The Exiles Return is a stunningly vivid postwar story of Austria's fallen aristocrats, unrepentant Nazis, and a culture degraded by violence.  Vienna is demolished by war, the city an alien landscape of ruined castles, a fractured ruling class, and people picking up the pieces. Hardcover

Drawing on his own long-standing battle with anxiety, Stossel presents an astonishing history, at once intimate and authoritative, of the efforts to understand the condition from medical, cultural, philosophical, and experiential perspectives. Hardcover and eBook
Dick Wolf

If we're not dieting or improving our lives, we're hunkering down with escapist novels. Dick Wolf, creator of Law and Order, brings us his second Jeremy Fisk novel.  Politics, international intrigue and twisting suspense give you everything you want to forget that it's January in New Jersey.
