Happenings at the Bookstore and Around Town                         January 2014
Dear Friends

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Can't believe it's 2014 already.

After all the hullabaloo, the holiday rush, the mobs of people in the store (thank you!), it's quiet time now.  Time to reflect...and count our blessings.  We had an incredible year in 2013, and it was because of your support and encouragement and friendly suggestions.  You brought your kids to storytime, joined our workshops, celebrated our authors, enjoyed the music and scrabble evenings last summer, and bought our books!  Really, it was a wonderful year and we thank you!

Now we're cleaning everything up in the store, shutting down for Inventory on Monday the 6th.  Already new releases are coming in.  It's funny, after getting to know all the books of 2013, trying to catch up with all of you voracious readers, we've got stacks of exciting new books coming in.  And they look soooo good!!!!  That night table is piling up again....

In keeping with January being a time of reflection and renewal, we've got authors coming that offer lots of food for thought on intelligence, leadership, presentations and adventure.  We hope you can join us.

And don't forget to sign up to be a 'Book Giver' on World Book Night 2014.  Find out more here.  It's an incredible opportunity for you to share your love of reading with FREE books!
Deadline to sign up is Sunday,  January 5th.

We have tickets for the Fifth Annual Concert for Haiti on January 25th.  This incredible concert always sells out.  Featured artist this year is Emeline Michel, Haitian singer/songwriter, as well as local favorites.  Proceeds are donated to: Edeyo Foundation, Haitian Education & Leadership Program and Lamp for Haiti.

AND, our favorite list of the year!  2013 watchung BESTsellers! Who was the top overall?  Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline!!!! Congratulations.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,  Margot, Carolyn, Marina, Nicole, Marisela, Liane and Jeanne
