Picture Perfect
by Dan Yaccarino
Doug is a robot. His parents want him to be smart, so each morning they plug him in and start the information download. Dan Yaccarino's funny story of robot rebellion is a great reminder that sometimes the best way to learn about the world is to go out and be in it.
(ages 4-7)
by Peggy Parish
Peggy Parish knows what strikes children as side-splittingly funny and Fritz Siebel has drawn Amelia Bedelia and her literal-minded actions to perfection. Each kindness makes the world a little better.
Chloe and her friends won't play with the new girl, Maya. She is different. Eventually, Maya plays alone, and then stops coming to school altogether. When Chloe's teacher gives a lesson about how even small acts of kindness can change the world, Chloe is stung by the lost opportunity for friendship, and thinks about how much better it could have been if she'd shown a little kindness toward Maya.

Middle Readers Rule!
by Lisa Graff A Tangle of Knots is a magnificent puzzle about a slightly magical world where everyone has a Talent. Lisa Graff adds a pinch of magic to a sharply crafted plot to create a novel that will have readers wondering about fate and the way we're all connected.
by Gordon McAlpine
Meet Edgar and Allan Poe -- twelve-year-old identical twins, the great-great-great-great-grandnephews of Edgar Allan Poe. With a mix of literary humor, mystery, a little quantum physics, and fun extras like fortune cookie messages, letters in code, license plate clues -- and playful illustrations thoughout -- this series opener is a perfect choice for smart, funny tweens who love the Time Warp Trio, Roald Dahl, and Lemony Snicket. (ages 8 & up) Road Trip by Gary Paulsen and James Paulsen Dad and Ben haven't been getting along recently and Dad hopes a road trip to rescue a border collie will help them reconnect. Starred Review, Publishers Weekly: "The authors score on all fronts: they set an entertainingly frenzied pace, provide twists aplenty, create true dialogue that blends humor and pathos, and bring together a close-knit ensemble." (ages 9 & up)
eBook Editionby Kimberly Newton FuscoBee is an orphan who lives with a carnival and sleeps in the back of a tractor trailer. Every day she endures taunts for the birthmark on her face-though her beloved Pauline, the only person who has ever cared for her, tells her it is a precious diamond. When Pauline is sent to work for another carnival, Bee is lost.
This tender novel beautifully captures the pain of isolation, the healing power of community, and the strength of the human spirit.

YA Picks
by Sally Gardner Maggot Moon's 15-year-old dyslexic hero is written off by teachers and bullied by classmates. Only Hector, a new boy, gets Standish. He understands that his unique qualities - shaped, in part, by a condition that others perceive as a handicap - contribute to an original turn of mind. The acclaimed writer and illustrator Sally Gardner is dyslexic, and this led teachers to underestimate her talents. Her latest novel for teenagers, Maggot Moon, is dedicated to all those who didn't shine at school but "who will own tomorrow". (ages 12 & up) What We Saw at Night by Jacquelyn Mitchard Realistic fiction with a unique twist. Three teens, allergic to sunlight, live it up at night scaling tall buildings. One night's journey they come upon what appears to be a murder. Mitchard writes a breathtaking, beautiful, and dark suspense story.
(ages 12 & up)
