Dear Friends

Now at the midwinter still point of the year's turning, we have an opportunity to stand back and reflect a little. What a year it has been!

While we know in our hearts that change is an essential part of the process of life, for many the past twelve months have been an emotional roller-coaster. As familiar patterns and structures are challenged by an irresistible force sweeping aside everything in its path, we can no longer shelter safely within our comfort zones.

This of course is part of a seasonal cycle on a much larger scale. Leaves which were fresh, green, and full of promise in springtime need to wither and die, so that they can return into the earth for transmutation into renewed energy for the next round of growth. The fruits of the year carry within them the seeds of renewal but, for new forms to emerge, first we need to release the old ones.

Over the past year the Wrekin Trust has been on its own journey of transition, allowing a deep process of renewal to take place. As you will see below, new initiatives are coming into form, with a clear vision emerging, together with strategies for grounding this in practical ways.

We value and appreciate the network of souls with whom we work and know that collectively we can make a difference, as together we "become the change we want to see in the world".

With love and blessings on all our new beginnings

The Old Ceiling becomes the New Floor

A vital new beginning was made at the Transforum weekend in October.  David Karchere, one of the main presenters, tells us about it:

"In the cycle of the Wrekin Trust, a new form has been coming together all the time and that showed itself in this weekend.  And if there were any doubts on the part of those of us who have been involved, those doubts were dissolved as the clarity and the solidity of what has been building through this whole process, which is the foundation for what's coming next, showed itself.

New forms showed themselves over the course of this weekend.  But even if they hadn't, the substantiality of the vision and energy that was shared by us as a body of people was so clear and so beautiful.  We can take confidence as human beings in the presence of Universal Consciousness that is showing up through us and as us.  It has something in mind for us to bring to our world.  It has keen intent."

Whole Person - Whole World

Following the Transforum an exciting new project has come into being, and this initiative will form a significant part of the Wrekin Trust's plans for the coming year and beyond. In addition to the existing provision of learning opportunities, work with the Wrekin Forum network of associates, local connectors, and local groups, and a long-standing interest in supporting work with young people, Wrekin Trust is now adopting Whole Person - Whole World as a new area of focus.

It is being carried forward by an energetic and enthusiastic group of colleagues, and we propose to offer opportunities for associates and groups across the Wrekin network to participate. For further details, please click here

 Building Community through
 Inter-generational Dialogue

At this time of change and insecurity, many young people are facing an uncertain future without a sense of meaning and purpose to their lives, and sometimes feel cut adrift from sources of advice and support. Meanwhile, older people are challenged by changes to their familiar world, and there is a growing sense of alienation between old and young within society.

In order to reach out to a younger generation, we are developing a three-year programme which aims to build bridges between the generations by establishing greater understanding, shared values, and positive attitudes through inter-generational dialogue. While young people hold the key to the future of our society, the "Elders" are a rich resource of collective experience and understanding.

Major funding is being sought for this much-needed programme of work, and we should be most grateful if you could bring this to the attention of any individuals or organisations who might be willing and able to make a contribution towards the overall cost of the project. A detailed proposal is available on request. For further information, please make direct contact with Roger Orgill, MBE, Wrekin Trustee, roger.orgill04@gmail.com, 01432 277410.

"The opportunity for change is now.
We are living in a new world
with new human capacities and new world views.
In this time of Great Transition, we must make
systemic and radical changes to our institutions
to reflect our new values and capacities.
We must come together as global citizens

in a world community that cares enough
to make the changes needed
to create the new world."
