Dear Oaklanders,

Today I would like to share with you the following:

CALL TO ACTION: IS INTEGRITY IN GOVERNMENT IMPORTANT TO YOU?

If so, make sure your Councilmember knows how you feel about the recently released Non-Interference in Administrative Affairs Performance Audit Report, which found two Councilmembers and one Aide violated the City Charter. Click here to email your Councilmember and/or attend the City Council meeting on May 21st where we will be presenting our report to the City Council. The meeting will begin at 5:30pm in the Council Chambers on the 3rd Floor of City Hall.

The City Council will consider the following items during its May 21st meeting:

  1. The Council will discuss the Non-Interference report's recommendations. See the City Council President's response to the audit here.
  2. Councilmember Reid has called for an investigation of the audit report my office issued: "Consider A Request For An Outside Full Independent Auditor's Report Focused On The Allegations Against Council Members Desley Brooks And Vice Mayor Larry Reid As Stated In The Current Auditor's Report That Was Submitted From The Office Of Courtney Ruby Dated March 21, 2013"

Please click here to read the letter that I sent to the City Council in response to concerns publicly raised regarding the audit and to correct misinformation that has been stated related to the audit and its process.

FRAUD, WASTE + ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAM ANNUAL REPORT

Today I am releasing the results of the 2012 Fraud, Waste + Abuse Prevention Program's (FW+A) annual report. FW+A received a total of 73 tips in 2012, of which 70 percent came from Oakland City employees (compared to 44 percent in 2011). The FW+A hotline was also instrumental in our recent Non-Interference in Administrative Affairs Performance Audit Report. Click here to view the FW+A annual report.
