Our school officials are working tirelessly on the overwhelming task of getting these children - many of whom have only the clothes they wore at the time of evacuation - back to "normal," at least during the school day. This is a ground-up effort. We have been in close touch with the Atlantic City School District as they struggle to set up a distribution center that can supply our kids and their families with the items they need to begin life after Sandy. Our first step will be to gather supplies and set up a distribution center that will continue to operate when our temporary centers cease operations. Over the next few days, we need to secure:
- 500 large plastic bins with lids
- 36 hanging clothing racks (for donated coats)
- 100 space heaters, since heat is not likely to be restored for months

- New or gently used, freshly laundered winter coats
(children's size 6X, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and adult size S, M, L, XL)
- Winter hats and gloves
- Underwear (packages of 3 are ideal, all sizes)
- Undershirts (packages of 3 are ideal, all sizes)
- Navy blue collared shirts (school "uniform" sizes as above_
- Navy blue or khaki (tan) color pants (school "uniform" - sizes as above)
- Blankets, sheets, bedspreads
- Mattresses (or air mattresses)
- Toothbrushes, Toothpaste
- Soap, shampoo
- Hairbrushes/combs
- Washcloths/towels
- Backpacks
- Pens, pencils
- Notebooks
- Peanut butter, soup, cereal, juice, granola bars etc. Ready to eat is best.
