VTT MOURNS VICTIMS OF JERUSALEM MASSACRE

rabbis

police

Earlier this week in a savage killing in a sacred Jewish sanctuary in Jerusalem, four devout worshipers as well as a Druze police officer lost their lives to hatred. VTT mourns the senseless death of these five innocent lives and prays for the speedy recovery of the seven injured victims. In a bold and brave response, the wives and orphans of the four slain rabbis issued the following national solidarity plea, which we wish to share with our community on the eve of this Shabbat:

With broken hearts, drenched in tears shed over the spilt blood of holy men - the heads of our families. We call on our brethren wherever they are - let us come together so that we may merit mercy from Heaven, and let's accept upon ourselves to increase love and comradery, between each individual and each community.

We ask that every person accept upon himself on this Sabbath Eve (Parshat Toldot, November 21-22, 2014), to set aside the day of Shabbat as a day of unconditional love, a day during which we will refrain from words of disagreement and division, from words of gossip and slander.

May the memories of all five victims be for a blessing and may we all heed the compassionate call for unity and derech eretz this Shabbat.

Shabbat Shalom,

Cathy Lowenstein, M.Ed.

Head of School

CELEBRATING KINDNESS, THE YACHAD MITZVAH OF THE MONTH

Yachad--Kindness
Yachad--Kindness
Grade 7 students created the above video to showcase the many acts of kindness that occurred at the school during RAC Week.

"Together" is a great manifestation of kindness and Grade Seven students aptly sang and spoke about this important message at Tuesday's Yachad (Unity) assembly, our second one since we launched this social responsibility initiative at the beginning of the school year. Recipients of this month's "Menschen of the Month" are listed below. These students were all caught performing kind acts throughout the school. As Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, will soon be upon us, this month's Yachad theme is "bringing in the light," with a focus on performing mitzvot (good deeds).
