We are pleased to be able to share our students'
divrei Torot (Torah commentaries) with our community. Last week seventh grade student Samantha Gilman celebrated her Bat Mitzvah at Congregation Beth Israel. This week we share her analysis of a section of Parashat Toldot.
Fifty one years ago today, President John F Kennedy was assassinated. His words are still being spoken to this day. A famous line JFK is known for is "forgive your enemies". It seems fitting to speak his words today before I read my Torah reading, parashat Toldot, in which we are inspired to forgive our enemies. Everyone has a story about forgiveness. I'd like to share a story of forgiveness that has greatly impacted me. One of my dear friends is a Holocaust survivor. I've heard him speak to groups of students. A common question he is asked is, "Do you hate Germany?" His response is always the same. "I don't hate them. They have apologized and tried to make up for their actions. I forgive them." In fact, the Torah teaches us about the importance of forgiving someone regardless if you like them or not.Read more online . . .

SCHOOL NEWS
All VTT parents are invited to take part in building a Hannukammunity! Bring any decorative items that you no longer need to be glued on this giant Hannukiyah such unused jewelry, trinkets, eyeglasses, pieces of broken ceramics--you name it! Come and help make it special and leave your mark!
Visit any time during the week of Dec 1st to 5th from 8:15-8:30 and 2:20-3:20 with your items and a member of staff will be there to assist you and glue it on. We will be sending a daily updated photo for everyone to track the progress of VTT's first-ever Hannukammunity!
A heartfelt thank you to Dina Sacks for her hard work and vision of building a collaborative art community!

It's never too early to learn about our obligations to help those in need. Preschool 3 students get ready to place their donations in the Jewish food bank box.
Children's author Aubrey Davis ("Bagels for Benny" and other treasures) delighted and entertained our second grade students earlier this week as part of the Jewish Book Festival. Not only is Mr. Davis a wonderful writer, he is also a superb storyteller.
Thank you to VTT parent Dr. Danny Dvir for enhancing his presentation on medicine with fun props for 2A's students.
Thank you to the 21 parents and faculty who participated in the joint VTT-Schara Tzedeck Blood Drive. Thanks to your interest, we are growing every year! A very special Todah Rabah to Jen Chelin and Debra Miller for organizing and supplying all the kosher pick-me-ups.
These boys mean business! Thanks to the "VTT Traffic Jammers" our parkade has extra sets of eyes, ears and hands to direct traffic and keep our students safe. From left to right: Max, Jacob, Evan, Noam and Jack, sixth graders dedicated to their craft.
