RAC Race

Sunday, September 28th, 2014

12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Your last chance to "Tip the Scale"

Dear Grade 7 Families,

We are excited to invite all of you to come together as a community to perform Random Acts of Chesed (RAC) during the Ten Days of Teshuva (repentance) between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur to tip the scale.

Performing mitzvot (commandments) during the Ten Days of Teshuva is at the heart of the process of waking up and changing one's direction. One can tip the scales in his or her favor by performing any mitzvah as the first step to getting on the right path.

As a class we have been brainstorming ideas on how to lead our families and serve as a role models to our siblings and peers by performing acts of chesed (kindness). Much excitement, creativity, and enthusiasm have been generated as we plan this race to spread kindness. We are confident that it is going to be the first of many more good things to come.

We are already halfway through September and have much to do leading up to our program on the 28th. Your immediate registration (no later than Friday, September 12th) will help us in our planning and coordination. If possible, we would love to get 100% family participation . . .

However, we can't do this alone! Can you help? Please contact Shoshi ASAP at sburton@talmudtorah.com to contribute to this wonderful, student-led initiative.

What now?

  • Register your child and any family members by September 12th.
  • Arrive to VTT on Sunday, September 28th at 12:00 sharp to connect with your team and receive instructions, including your list of Chesed acts, your RAC pack, and your map. You will then TAKE OFF on your race.
  • Document all the great things you are doing. Take awesome Selfless Selfies with your phones to be used later by your teams.
  • Attend the "RACademy and Havdalah Night" on Saturday, November 1st to welcome the new week with a Havdalah ceremony. Schmooze, and watch the videos each team has created.
  • To get into the team spirit, we are selling long-sleeved RAC t-shirts (complimentary for Grade 7 students). They are optional, but great for building community. Only $10 each. They can be ordered through the registration page. Please send payment (cash or cheque) to Jennifer's office.
