May is Be Kind to Animals Month
We're asking our most compassionate friends to please help us reach an urgent financial goal for animals in need.
Poor Deuce. His ears and tail were cruely cut off before he ended up in a high kill shelter. He had parvo when we saved him from certain death at the pound, but he managed to survive that ordeal, too. On our recent adoption transport, Deuce was adopted to a loving, forever home, far from the abusive hands that maimed him. .
Please help us save more animals like Deuce. An anonymous donor has pledged to match up to $10,000 in contributions for abused, neglected and abandoned animals through the end of the month. Please, won't you DONATE TODAY and help us raise $20,000 in urgently needed funds for vet bills and animal care?

Prince Charming is feeling better now, but he has vision problems which may still require surgery or removal of his eyes.
It's hard to comprehend how anyone could harm a little angel like Prince Charming. Just recently, however, he was tossed out of a vehicle passing over a small bridge, along with with 8 other kittens.
Miraculously, the box landed on the far side of the guard rail instead of plunging into the water. An HSL crew member luckily noticed one of the kittens poking his head out of the box. She went immediately to their aid and the 9 tiny victims were rushed to our veterinarian.

The kittens - from three different litters - all had severe eye infections. Our tireless Shelter Manager, Jessica Cameron, managed to save 5 of the initial 9 victims, by giving them constant care. Cinderella and Prince Charming survived, and three of the smaller kittens who required bottle feeding - Tarzan, Jane and Sebastian - are recovering from their ordeal. All the kitties face vision problems and potential surgeries in the future.
The little angels that died - once cruelly discarded like trash - at least received love, care and attention for the remainder of their short lives. We will make sure the survivors get the care they need and spend happy lifetimes with families who will cherish them.
Please, Won't You Help Us Reach our $10,000 Goal to Help
Defenseless Victims Like These?
With no city or parish budget to support our services, the ONLY funding we have comes from kind people like you. Please help if you can, and thank you so much for caring.
