Sending you lots of good wishes from Rome, Florence, Venice, and Lake Como on our La Dolce Vita journey.



We have arrived to rain and drizzle and, as someone said, there is no bad weather just bad gear. We already sipped wine on the Roof Top with the lights of Rome twinkling and are tucking in early for our pre opening tour of the Sistine Chapel in the morning. Wish you were here.

Enroute to and from Italy, I am stopping in Istanbul, one of my favorite cities of the world.

Some of you know Hurricane Erika wrecked havoc on the beautiful island of Dominica

Our lodge was destroyed. Thankfully, no one was injured at the lodge. Many dear friends and others at Jungle Bay lost their homes. We are raising funds for recovery and have already sent requested supplies. I will be writing more about school supplies needed in the next newsletter. Until then, please hold Dominica in your thoughts as they work to rebuild. Our trip, of course, is cancelled. I will be traveling to the island this winter to volunteer. We look forward to offering our women's wellness week to the island in 2017.

Fall Song

Another year gone, leaving everywhere 
its rich spiced residues: vines, leaves,
the uneaten fruits crumbling damply
in the shadows, unmattering back
from the particular island
of this summer, this NOW, that now is nowhere
except underfoot, moldering
in that black subterranean castle
of unobservable mysteries - - -roots and sealed seeds
and the wanderings of water. This
I try to remember when time's measure
painfully chafes, for instance when autumn
flares out at the last, boisterous and like us longing
to stay - - - how everything lives, shifting
from one bright vision to another, forever
in these momentary pastures.
