Our first tour to Turkey was exhilarating. At the end of each trip we all share a highlight or two of what we liked most. Always it seems there are many many highlights and Turkey was no exception. Many colleagues and friends have shared their enthusiasm for this distinctly surprising culture and I concur that Turkey is a stunning country to experience. The women traveling with me on this trip were all repeat Serendipity Traveler's so they know our Serendipity Traveler style. As we traveled throughout the country we had the distinct luxury of our seasoned full time private guide and driver. Our accommodations were perfectly perched where we began in the city of Istanbul within walking distance of the Old Town. We flew within the country to afford visiting other regions and in Cappadocia the Argos Hotel provided a spectacular setting from which to relish the wondrous locale. The owner's vision has excelled in creating a magical respite amidst a landscape that stirs the spirit and imagination. Ephesus does not disappoint and is beyond comprehension bringing history classes to life. We ended this tour on the coast in Bodrum. A lovely place to unwind and soak in the sunshine and sea. Take a peek at our Turkey itinerary and, if this fascinating culture calls to you, plan to join us in September 2013. Turkey is the breadbasket of civilization and well worth exploring. If you want to check out one of our hotels, google The Argos in Cappadocia and I am sure you will want to sleep there amidst the magical fairy chimneys. .....small, quintessential and perfectly located which is what I look for when choosing where we will stay wherever we may be going. The word quintessential is indeed a favorite of mine and reflects what I strive to share with you wherever we travel. Turkey details>>

La Dolce Vita

Some of you know I spontaneously offered an extended trip to Italy this fall. I really couldn't publicize/advertise our tour guide extraordinaire in Rome due to the kindness and graciousness of my friend. We were guided in Rome by none other than Norman Rockwell's notable son Peter Rockwell. Peter has been living in Rome for 50 years and also has an international reputation for his art. His lovely daughter is an acquaintance of mine. Serendipity brought all this together one morning in May when Peter was visiting. I love it when life works this way... letting Serendipity lead me. Peter shared the works of his favorite Italian artists as we wandered from place to place. I do not think I will ever look at a painting the same way again. Lunch outside at one of Peter's favorite trattoria's in his old neighborhood was delightful. Meandering the streets of Rome with Peter's running commentary on art and architecture is a memory I cherish. Rambling in Florence and capturing the renaissance essence is always an adventure. Our guide there offered excellent commentary pertinent to the magnificent Duomo and other notable landmarks. Touring Tuscany for the day always offers a glimpse into the pastoral landscapes and La Dolce Vita. Staying in Venice amidst the lagoon at The San Clemente Palace overlooking the islands, Grand Canal and Venetian waterfront was a splendid ending to a full tour exploring Italy. Walking and walking some more is always the best way to immerse oneself and that is what we do on this tour. Walking helps with all the pasta, gelato and tiramisu we sample. I will be offering La Dolce Vita again in 2013. As soon as I get the final 2013 calendar firm, the dates will be posted. Plan to join us

Freedom
We are fortunate to live in a free country. My Dad served in WWII and perhaps that instilled in me more than anything the opportunity we have to VOTE. America is at a crossroads and this election is one of the more important in my lifetime. I urge you to VOTE and as is often stated at the end of the speeches. God Bless America!
