Wind Energy Summit South Africa 2014
With South African wind projects coming online, it is time to take stock of the market and learn lessons from the first two rounds of the renewable energy bidding process.

Wind Energy Update makes available a brochure for a wind energy meeting that Surprise Zwane, director of strategic development support at the South African Department of Environmental Affairs has named as "one of the most important meetings for the wind community this year".

Wind Energy Summit South Africa, Cape Town, 9 - 10 April 2014, brings together key members of the South African wind community to discuss the most prevalent topics and issues.

Download the Wind Energy Update brochure here

Special features of the summit include:
  • Meet international developers such as Mainstream, Enel Green Power, RES and E.ON
  • Understand South African government commitment by debating with and meeting South African National Treasury, DEA and DEDEAT
  • Learn from the international panel on crucial Social Economic Empowerment legislation and how to achieve a commercial profit whilst meeting the social imperatives
Speakers from the United Nations, DEDEAT, REEEP and OneWorld, amongst others, will be presenting.

Hear lessons learned from three of South Africa's leading banks so you know how best to work with them in the financing of onshore wind

Please feel free to forward this communication to relevant colleagues who may benefit from the brochure and from attending Wind Energy Summit South Africa 2014.

Announcement:
Vector appointed official magazine of IESSA
EE Publishers is pleased to announce that at the recent council meeting of the Illumination Engineering Society of South Africa (IESSA), it was decided and agreed that Vector magazine would henceforth be the association's official publication.

This decision came in the light of the longstanding, excellent working relationship between IESSA and Vector over many years.

This follows a recent announcement that Vector magazine would continue to be the official magazine of the Electrical Contractors Association of South Africa (ECA). The previous agreement between the ECA and EE Publishers in this regard has been reviewed, updated and extended.

IESSA supports the practical implementation of internationally recognized lighting practices for the direct and indirect enjoyment and benefit of the general public.

IESSA represents the South Africa lighting industry locally and internationally as the South African national committee of the International Commission on Illumination (CIE)

South African lighting professionals serve on the CIE international committees responsible for the development of standards for the different aspects of illumination. The CIE and IESSA implement international lighting practices and provide a forum for information exchange on the various aspects of illumination.

Vector sales and marketing executive, Centaine Nel, serves on the IESSA Public Relations Committee. Vector editor, Mark Botha, serves on IESSA's Johannesburg Branch Committee.
