You may have heard that an extra 200 MW will be awarded exclusively to CSP (concentrating solar power) under the REIPPPP (renewable energy independent power producer procurement programme) of the South African DoE (Department of Energy) in the next couple of weeks.

Background

The CEM programme was established in 1981 to meet the growing needs of individuals and organisations wishing to advance their position in the energy efficiency field, and is the most recognised and respected qualification in energy management

The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) has certified more than 22000 professionals, 13000 of them CEMs, thus enabling them to receive special recognition for their expertise in a variety of specialised areas of the energy, power and green facilities industry. Individuals granted the use of this designation by the AEE have distinguished themselves as earning the highest level of competency in energy management.

The CEM qualification is widely accepted in the USA and about 90 countries worldwide, and is recognised by public and private institutions. CEM's are now found engaged in all the various aspects of the energy industry including: major multi-national corporations, utilities, control and performance contractors, national, provincial and local governments, universities and schools, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, retail chains, hospitals, entrepreneurs and consultants in the energy field.

The Energy Training Foundation (EnTF) has been the approved training partner of the AEE for the Southern African region for the past 12 years. EnTF is EWSETA accredited and the affiliated training provider of the Southern African Association for Energy Efficiency (SAEE). Attending the CEM training course will earn you five CPD credits with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
