The Fossil Fuel Foundation cordially invites you to attend South Africa's electricity supply conference entitled:

The Electricity Business: the true cost of electricity options and the choices for SA

DATE: Thursday 15 August 2013
TIME: 07h30 for 08h15
VENUE: Hyatt Regency Johannesburg Hotel, 191 Oxford Road, Rosebank

South Africa needs to balance its economic, social and environmental imperatives. It is struggling to keep the lights on and to provide enough electricity to fuel its growth engine. Is lowest cost electricity the key to unlocking the country's growth potential and thus mitigate social problems and poverty? If environmental factors are not managed, the future will be seriously compromised: should these be factored into the costs and social outcomes. This one-day conference will bring together experts to debate the most appropriate mix of electricity generation for South Africa.

Shaun Nel, Energy Intensive User Group and BDO Consulting
Frans Cronje, SA Institute for Race Relations
Rob Jeffrey, Econometrix
Dr. Steve Lennon, Eskom
Department of Energy

The panel discussion is structured to give life to the positions offered in the preceding three sessions. The aim is to either gain consensus (highly unlikely), or (more probably) list those things that the country must address in order to gain a common view of the way ahead. An example of such a finding could be the need for a comprehensive database for levelised costs of electricity (LCOE) for South Africa.

16h30 - 17h30: Networking opportunity
