Africa Radio Comms Conference 2013
DATE: 26, 27 & 28 November 2013 VENUE: Midrand Conference Centre, Gauteng, South Africa
The conference has been developed to promote best practice in this area, and will have users, dealers and radio industry professionals attending.
This inaugural Africa Radio Comms Conference will chart the future for mobile and radio technology in South Africa, and IDC Technologies is calling for abstracts from users, experts and professionals outlining their particular angle.
Delegates attending will discover how mobile radio is used in utilities, transport, mining and public safety and how digital technology is shaping the future of radio communications. The sector is wide, encompassing training and education, networks and infrastructure, spectrum planning, digital radio and LTE - all of which will be covered.
Delegates will leave better informed on the choices that are available when installing, upgrading or researching a radio system for their organisations and users. More than 16 papers and workshops will be presented throughout the 3-day event, including those by keynote speakers. Case studies and technology-focused sessions will be offered by both local and international experts.
During this time of accelerating technological change and with a range of complex challenges facing industry, the Africa Radio Comms Conference offers delegates and presenters the opportunity to increase their knowledge and understanding and to become better prepared for a future in this networking environment.

REQUIREMENTS TO MAKE A PRESENTATION
- A 100 word abstract outlining the topic you would like to present. This needs to be submitted electronically as soon as possible to secure your place. Email to marketing4@idc-online.co.za
- Once your topic is approved write a technical paper and present it at the conference using PowerPoint to illustrate your main points. Both paper and PowerPoint slides are due, six weeks prior to the event.
Please note that speaking slots are allocated on topic suitability and first-come, first-served basis, so please register your interest without delay.

Tony Leon was nominated by President Jacob Zuma as South Africa's ambassador to Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, where he served from August 2009 to October 2012.
From his experience as ambassador, and with a dose of common sense and humour, Tony Leon will speak and give some political and business insights on the BRICS trading block, with the electronics, ICT, telecomms and software sectors in mind. He recently returned to South Africa, and is consulting to business in South America and South Africa, writing a column for Business Day, and speaking to various audiences. He recently finishing writing his third book, published in 2013 by Pan Macmillan, entitled "The Accidental Ambassador - from Parliament to Patagonia". For nearly 20 years Tony Leon was a Member of Parliament, and for 13 years he led the Democratic Alliance, which he grew from a marginal position on the brink of political extinction into the second largest political force in South Africa.
