The GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 on-line survey: Results and prize winners
The conference and exhibition
The
GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 conference and exhibition was held over 3 days at Emperors Palace Convention Centre, Gauteng, South Africa, on 2, 3 and 4 October 2012. The event attracted some 600 delegates, 66 exhibitors and 200 walk-in exhibition viewers, and about 20 peer-reviewed academic papers, 40 general papers and 32 training workshops were presented.

The on-line delegate survey results 23% of the 600 delegates to GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 conference and exhibition completed the survey, which makes the results statistically meaningful.
50% of respondents were from Gauteng, 18% from Western Cape, 8,5% from KwaZulu Natal, and 9,3% from outside South Africa.
16,4% of respondents had technikon diplomas, 18,7% had university first degrees, and 46% had university post graduate / second degrees. 37% of respondents were registered with PLATO, and 48% had no professional registration.
Approximately 80% of respondents rated the venue (Emperors Palace) as good or excellent; approximately 90% rated the general organisation and communication as good or excellent; approximately 80% rated the conference content / presentations as good or excellent;
and over 85% of respondents rated the exhibition as good or excellent.
Overall, some 90% of respondents indicated that the
GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 conference and exhibition met or exceeded their expectations, with only 3% of respondents indicating they would not attend a similar event next year.
