Reducing Holiday Stress
For individuals and families living with Alzheimer's and other dementias, the holidays can be difficult. But by committing to planning and adjusting your expectations, there's every reason to believe your holiday gatherings will be memorable and filled with happy moments. 
 
Alz.org has some helpful tips on preparing for the holidays, including adapting your gift giving process, building on past traditions and balancing your time. We'll also be posting additional tips throughout the month of December on Facebook and Twitter, so stay tuned for more useful info and feel free to respond with helpful advice of your own.

2013 Meeting of the Minds Dementia Conference

March 2, 2013 will be here before you know it and this year's event is shaping up to be an extremely informative affair with new sessions, exhibitors and keynote speakers, including Pat Summitt, Senator Al Franken and Dr. Eric Reiman.

Family Memory Care Programs Seeking Applicants
Family Memory Care is a service offered by the Alzheimer's Association to help with memory loss by reducing stress and increasing care partner support. Consultants work with you to determine strategies for coping with personality/behavior changes, develop a plan that suits your needs and assist you in finding other resources in your area. 
 
Our Western Minnesota offices recently reopened their program and regional offices chapter-wide are seeking applicants. Call the 24/7 information helpline at 800.272.3900 to find out more about services available in your area.

Enjoy golf? Want to get involved? 
Do you live in the Twin Cities area and have experience or interest in planning a golf tournament? If so, we have a great volunteer opportunity for you! Volunteers are needed to help other community volunteers plan the Alzheimer's Golf Classic tournament benefiting the Alzheimer's Association in June.
