As business owners one of the most important things we can do is to make our voices heard. What better way to do that than to re-purpose our content? Recently, I set out to do just that. And now I will share that information with you.
Like me, you may have written reports, articles, and/or books. Most likely, you already know that there is a great need for your information, but you are at a loss for how to get it out there. Having gone the press releases route I will not bore you with those details. This after all, is not re-purposing, but rather promotion. However, if you need help in that area let me know, and I'll be happy to share with you that information in another issue. On the other hand, if you can't wait, go get a copy of the Weird & Wacky Holiday Marketing Guide. This annual ebook contains a sample press release and many other outstanding ways to promote your business and have fun while doing so.
What I discovered and intend to share with you is taking your current content and turning it into an audio book!! If that is of interest to you, read on.
Sit back for just a moment and think about the busy people you see every day. Both our youth and adults are plugging in. Everywhere you look people are listening to audios while exercising, driving and even just walking down the street. Therefore, it seems to me that the demand for audio, of all kinds, would far exceed that for any other medium. And, for those of us who already have Kindle ebooks available the process of creating audiobooks is already partially done.
Another good reason to consider re-purposing your content into audio books is the fact that those who purchase your audio book, if they enjoy it, are far more likely to purchase it in another medium or even other products you have to offer. It is definitely a rapidly growing market place. According to the Audiobook Publisher's Association audio book buyers are higher-income earners than non-listeners, which translates into more sales for you if they like what they find, and better educated, which means they know what they need when they see it. That said; if you plan on taking on this challenge make sure you only offer high-quality content!
It used to be that only a select few were even allowed to create audio books, but today things are changing for the better in this arena too. Considering the fact that digital books are only a few years old and already far surpassing print books in sales, it is a logical progression for our plugged-in society to embrace audio books.
If you have a good voice and can read well, you too can produce your own audio books with just a couple of pieces of equipment and a quiet room. If you don't like your voice you can always hire a narrator. Some narrators will even work for split royalties, which equates to no out-of-pocket expenses.
So, what is stopping you? Why not join me in offering good-quality audio books to the starving throng that will eagerly devour your content, if you only just make it available.
