Educate, Activate, Calculate for a More Bike-Friendly Los Angeles County in 2013

Thank you for
all of your support in 2012. The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition is proud of our work and grateful for all of our members and volunteers. We are optimistic for an even better, more bike-able LA in the coming year. This is just a friendly reminder to consider us as you make your end-of-year charitable tax donations. There are four days left in 2013: donate today!

We have devised a three-part menu of programs to successfully build neighborhood level support for bicycle projects. This comprehensive program can be summarized as Activate, Educate and Calculate. To successfully staff and implement this program we need to raise $125,000. You can read more about each component here.

Thank you so much for supporting us in your year-end giving!
Join us for the LACBC Bike Ride to the Rose Parade
RoseParade

LACBC members: please join us for another family ride across Pasadena to Laemmle's Playhouse 7, where we'll climb the rooftop and watch the 124th Rose Parade from up above! Last year when we first had this ride, our group had one of the best views of the Rose Parade on Colorado Blvd.!

Because we will be climbing very tall ladders on a rooftop with no parapet, riders must be comfortable with tall heights and agile enough to make the climb. This 8-mile ride, combined with the climbing, is not suitable for children under 9.

Please RSVP with your name, the amount of people you'll be bringing (plus the ages of any children attending), and your phone number to Carol Feucht at [email protected].

SundayFunday

The co-authors of Where to Bike Los Angeles lead the first Sunday Funday ride of the New Year, 2013! We'll explore the Orange Line Bike Path that parallels Metro's Orange Line Busway from NoHo west across the San Fernando Valley, all the way along the recently completed four-mile long extension from Warner Center in Canoga Park to Chatsworth. We'll hit a handful of sights along the way: the Great Wall of Los Angeles, the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area, the Encino Velodrome, the Pierce College Farm Market, and the famous Munch Box snack stop. Join us for this 40-mile ride.

Get Ready for the 13th Annual Los Angeles River Ride on June 9th

Mark your calendars! We have a little over 6 months until LACBC's biggest ride returns on Sunday, June 9th. Perhaps your goal for 2013 is to ride a Century or to get your whole family out on bike ride together. Let us help!
RiverRide

What's Ringing Our Bike Bells: Tall Bike Bobby Gives His TedxUCLA

How Do You Get Off That Thing?: Bobby Gadda at TEDxUCLA
How Do You Get Off That Thing?: Bobby Gadda at TEDxUCLA
Congrats and best of luck to our former program coordinator Bobby Gadda, who has moved up to the Bay Area! As our program coordinator, Bobby ran LACBC's bike valet and helped establish the Bici Libre bike co-op space. He was also a Cook at the Bicycle Kitchen and the Board President of CicLAvia. As you may recall, Bobby also rocked a pretty great mustache, occasionally sported a sparkly bodysuit, and biked from Vancouver to LA on a tall bike this summer.

In this week's installment of What's Ringing Our Bike Bells, let's give it up for Bobby Gadda and this entertaining and inspirational talk he gave on his tall bike tour for TedxUCLA. You can continue to follow his adventures on his Tall Bike Bobby Facebook page.

We miss you, Bobby!
