CHANGE OF SCHEDULE TODAY:
5 Days To Go Phone Bank
Special Guest Cecile Richards
WILL NOT BE HERE Due To A Schedule Conflict

Today, Thursday, for our 5 Days To Go Phone Bank, we had scheduled an appearance by a special guest, Cecile Richards. We have just learned that she WILL NOT be able to appear today due to a conflict.

The phone bank will still be held, as this is a vital call to get last minute mail ballots done and in person voting. Please bring a fully-charged phone and a friend and help us remind more Democrats about the last day of Early Voting! We'll be at the DCDP office, 4209 Parry at Fletcher, just east of Fair Park, until 9 PM. To RSVP or for any questions, email our Field Director Jess Weldon to Jess AT DallasDemocrats.org.

Have You Voted Yet?

Last Weekend GOTV Walk

This weekend will be the final blockwalk weekend before Election Day, November 4th. Be sure to come out and knock on doors with your DCDP Street Team, candidates, and elected officials before the election is over. We'll be reminding voters that Election Day is Tuesday. We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend for our last big push.

Remember to use plenty of sun block, wear comfortable walking shoes, and blockwalking outfit. Every voter we turn out is a step closer to Turning Texas Blue. So let's get out there, get the vote out, and finish strong!

We'll be putting out a bulletin (and posting on our website) the locations and times for both Saturday and Sunday. Watch for it and RSVP by email to Jess AT DallasDemocrats.org to join us in our final GOTV weekend blockwalk!

Last 2 Days of Early Voting

Today and tomorrow are your last chances to vote early and avoid the lines next Tuesday. Polls are open Thursday and Friday from 7 AM to 7 PM. This year's Early Voting began Monday, October 20, and runs through this Friday, October 31. So far, over 136,000 people voted early in person here in Dallas County.
Join in!

Hours and locations of Early Voting is a pdf here.

The sample ballot is a pdf here.

We encourage a "Straight Party" Democratic ticket vote. It's much quicker than voting for each of those dozens of candidates. (At right is Clay voting early at the Oak Cliff Subcourthouse.)

Besides over 100 federal, state, and local offices, there is also on the ballot one proposed state Constitutional Amendment, nine proposed City of Dallas Charter Amendments; bond issues in Cockrell Hill, DeSoto, Sunnyvale, and in the Duncanville, Garland, and Sunnyvale school districts; and a sales tax election in Sunnyvale.

SUGGESTION: Before you go vote, read those propositions (see the link to the Sample Ballot) and decide how you are voting on them. You can even write a list and take it to save time at the polls. (At left is Angelica voting early at the Oak Cliff Subcourthouse.)

The proposed state constitutional amendment, Proposition 1, would authorize annual spending from the state's oil and gas production tax collections to the State Highway Fund. An estimated $1.4 billion would be transferred to the State Highway Fund in the first year alone. The Texas Democratic Party endorsed Proposition One at the State Convention.

The only other stand I've heard of yet by a Democratic group is on the City of Dallas Proposition 4 "Amending the Provision for Nondiscrimination in City Employment", which was endorsed by the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas Board, saying it "strongly urges all Dallas residents to vote FOR Proposition Number 4 on the ballot which contains all inclusive non-discrimination language for our Community." (At right is Chris voting early at the Oak Cliff Subcourthouse.)

What About Photo IDs For Voting?

YES, we still need it this time, but in the future voters like this one may not.

Even though the US District Court ruled that the Texas Photo ID requirement for voting is un-Constitutional, the US Supreme Court allowed the state to still enforce it for this election, pending a full hearing by the appeals court next year. So for now, Texas voters WILL need to have their photo IDs to vote. Take yours along.

The forms of approved photo ID are on our website here:

Other Yard Signs at Party Office

We are out of the regular-sized Wendy Davis for Governor yard signs, but we have more of the Vote Democratic signs like the one above, and some for several of our other candidates with opponents this year, including for Judge Ken Molberg for 5th District Court of Appeals, Judge D'Metria Benson of County Court at Law 1, Judge Sally Montgomery of County Court at Law 3, Congressman Marc Veasey, State Senator Royce West, and for candidates David Alameel for US Senator, Carol Donovan for State Representative HD 107, Leigh Bailey for HD 108, Paul Stafford for HD 115, Lois Parrott for State Board of Education District 12, and Frank Perez for Congress District 32. Stop by our office to pick up a yard sign and help remind Democrats to vote!

Some signs we don't have at the office anymore because they've gone out -- but which may be available from their campaign sites -- include County Judge Clay Jenkins, District Attorney Craig Watkins, and many candidates such as Jennifer Bennett and Brandon Birmingham for Judge and Susan Motley for State Representative. See all our candidates' sites at this page.
