Early Voting Starts Monday for Democratic Runoff

In Texas candidates must get a majority of the votes in the primary or the top two have to be in a runoff. This year that will be on May 27. Early voting will be one week only, Monday May 19 to Friday May 23. Times and locations are on this pdf. These will be the runoffs we will see in Dallas County:

US Senator: David M. Alameel and Kesha Rogers

Commissioner of Agriculture: Jim Hogan and Richard "Kinky" Friedman

State Board of Education, Dist 13: Erika Beltran and Andrea Hilburn

State Representative, Dist 105: Terry Meza and Susan Motley

Judge, Co Criminal Court No. 5: Lisa Green and Etta J. Mullin

District Clerk: Felicia Pitre and Tarsha Hardy

County Treasurer: Bennie Elnora Brown and Pauline Medrano

JP, Pct No. 4, Pl 1: Norris 'Stretch' Rideaux and Mary Abeyta

JP, Pct No. 4, Pl 2: Fred Jackson and Katy Hubener

JP, Pct No. 5, Pl 1: Melissa J. Bellan and Sara Martinez

Constable, Pct No. 5: Michael Orozco and Beth Villarreal

Precinct Chair 4035: John Tackaberry  and Roberto Junior Alonzo

You can find links to other sites and the contact information for these candidates at our primary candidate filings page. They are shown here in their ballot order for the runoff.

NOTE: Our lists do not show websites, Facebooks, or other contact information for some of these because they have none or have not given them to us. But for US Senate, see the next article about Kesha Rogers. For Agriculture Commissioner, Jim Hogan has no sites because he has not raised or spent any money, and says he will continue not doing so if he wins the runoff, according to this article.

UPDATE 4/08: Hogan has now taken a position on one issue: "...vis a vis public school lunch programs, which are overseen by the Agriculture Commissioner. "He said what poor people need to do is plant gardens and that would solve a lot of problems with the lunch programs,""...., according to this article.

Warning: Don't Vote For Kesha Rogers

One candidate in the runoff for US Senator is Kesha Rogers, a follower of convicted felon Lyndon LaRouche. Please pass this information on to everyone else you know. Our Texas Democratic Party State Chair Gilberto Hinojosa sent out this notice:

"Kesha Rogers is one of the candidates on the ballot for U.S. Senator in the Democratic primary -- but do not be fooled. Kesha Rogers is not a Democrat.

Ms. Rogers is part of the "LaRouche Movement," which has a history of violent rhetoric. The focus of her campaign is impeaching President Obama. Rogers has even paraded around Texas with a poster of the President with a Hitler mustache.

Rogers believes that the U.S. economy is secretly controlled by London financial institutions and she has advocated for colonizing Mars.  That's not what real Democrats stand for.

The Texas Democratic Party does not support the candidacy of Kesha Rogers or anyone that aligns themselves with the LaRouche Movement. Our State Democratic Executive Committee even issued a resolution against her campaign. Do not vote for Kesha Rogers in the primary. Rogers' candidacy is a insult to our Party, our President, our state, our Democratic values, and to all the work you are doing to move our state forward. Do not vote for Kesha Rogers.

All my best --Gilberto Hinojosa"

Read the Texas Democratic Party's State Executive Committee Resolution on Kesha Rogers as a pdf at this page.

You can see a photo of one of her US Senate campaign posters with her call for impeaching Obama and her picture of him with a Hitler moustache here.

See links to more and a video of her attacks on Obama here.
If there was any doubt, the leader of Kesha Rogers' political "movement" has now weighed in on her behalf:

"...Lyndon LaRouche, the leader of the resilient fringe movement to which she has belonged for a decade, offered a most dire endorsement of her candidacy. "The United States will be destroyed unless Kesha is elected in her campaign," said the 91-year-old LaRouche, who ran for president eight times, including one campaign conducted from a prison cell. "Anyone who is opposed to her is an enemy of the United States. It's true.""
--From the Austin American Statesman

She supports impeaching Obama: "...as he's supporting Wall Street financial interests, as he's supporting this drive toward thermonuclear war, and as he's destroying the physical economy of this nation," Ms. Rogers said during a recent speech in Houston." --From The Texas Tribune

Kesha's Latest Battles With Reality:

Kesha Rogers continues her bizarre extremist crusade against the President, common sense, and science:

"Rogers' website features an image of President Barack Obama with a Hitler mustache and the candidate calls for his impeachment for crimes committed "in service of Wall Street fascism."

"The president has earned his Hitler mustache," she said Thursday, adding that the comparison stems from supposed similarities between Obama's signature domestic legislation, the Affordable Care Act, and a Nazi euthanasia program."
--The Monitor, May 8

"She sees Obama's suspension of the Constellation program, along with his support of the Affordable Care Act, which was passed by Congress, as impeachable offenses against the U.S. Constitution. ...

"There's no man-made climate change," she said, instead suggesting other factors, like sunspots or changes in sun activity, could more easily explain the changes in weather being observed all over the globe."
--Brownsville Herald, May 11

What's The Alternative?:
    David Alameel For U.S. Senator

Fortunately there is a much better candidate in the runoff for the Democratic nomination than the LaRoucheite Rogers. David Alameel (shown here speaking to the Preston Hollow Democrats in Dallas -- thanks to Tom Blackwell for the photo) almost won the primary without a runoff, but now he needs voters to give him the nod to challenge John Cornyn this fall.

Every paper I've seen is endorsing him, like this from the San Antonio Express:

"He would bring to the Senate solid positions on sensible budgeting, immigration reform, raising the minimum wage, bringing the troops home, holding banks and Wall Street accountable and protecting Social Security and Medicare. ...

"In the runoff, there is simply no question about the better choice: We recommend Alameel for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate."

You can hear him on these two recorded interviews on SoundCloud:
