DCDP Earth Day Booth
 The Dallas County Democratic Party had a booth at this year's Earth Day Texas event at Fair Park this weekend. Lots of people came by to register to vote, spin our game wheel, get Wendy Davis bumper stickers and bluebonnet seeds, and take photos with our standup of President Obama, shown here with two of our DCDP interns. Now Hiring Full-time Field DirectorThe Dallas County Democratic Party is seeking a full-time Field Director to join our team. The Field Director will help design and execute programs for another successful Dallas countywide coordinated campaign for 2014, and expand the Party base for future election cycles. Internship Opportunities Available Now The DCDP has an immediate opening for spring interns. We are hiring now through June 1, 2014. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, Democratic Primary Runoff Election work and field operations. Summer interns will be hired from June 8 through August 15, 2014, and positions include field and get out the vote operations, communications and special projects. Interns will: Learn the ins and outs of campaigns Organize their community for Democratic causes, candidates, and efforts Gain valuable skills that will help on future campaigns Résumés with cover letter should be sent by email to exec AT dallasdemocrats.org. Annual Johnson Jordan Dinner

Each year, the Johnson Jordan Dinner (formerly known as the Jefferson Jackson Dinner) honors the elected officials of Dallas County, including our civil, family, probate and criminal judges, county officials and administrators, and officials who represent the Dallas area on the state and federal level.
2014's Johnson Jordan Dinner will be one of the year's premier political events, attracting hundreds of citizens, attorneys, professionals, elected officials and members of the judiciary.  KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Mark J. Geragos of Geragos & Geragos PC is a well known celebrity attorney who has represented clients such as Michael Jackson and Winona Ryder. He hosts the legal program Making the Case for CNN and has appeared as a legal commentator for the Today Show, Good Morning America, 60 Minutes, Anderson Cooper 360 and Larry King Live. This is traditionally our biggest fundraising event each year. Sponsorship details are on our website at this page. We Need Your Help Again In The Runoff
Once more, the Democratic Party will need lots of Election Judges and clerks for the May 27 Runoff. Not everyone who could help in the primary will be available to do it again. You can sign up on line to assist us at our Election Worker Registry page here.

Runoffs
In Texas candidates must get a majority of the votes in the primary or the top two have to be in a runoff. This year that will be on May 27. Early voting will be one week only, Monday May 19 to Friday May 23. These will be the runoffs we will see in Dallas County: US Senator: David M. For Agriculture Commissioner, Jim Hogan has no sites because he has not raised or spent any money, and says he will continue not doing so if he wins the runoff, according to this article. UPDATE 4/08: Hogan has now taken a position on one issue: "...vis a vis public school lunch programs, which are overseen by the Agriculture Commissioner. "He said what poor people need to do is plant gardens and that would solve a lot of problems with the lunch programs,""...., according to this article. |
Warning: Spread The Word
One candidate in the runoff for US Senator is Kesha Rogers, a follower of convicted felon Lyndon LaRouche. If you already know how awful are her views, please pass the information on to everyone else you know. For instance, our Texas Democratic Party State Chair Gilberto Hinojosa has sent out this notice: "Kesha Rogers is one of the candidates on the ballot for U.S. Senator in the Democratic primary -- but do not be fooled. Kesha Rogers is not a Democrat. Ms. Rogers is part of the "LaRouche Movement," which has a history of violent rhetoric. The focus of her campaign is impeaching President Obama. Rogers has even paraded around Texas with a poster of the President with a Hitler mustache. Rogers believes that the U.S. economy is secretly controlled by London financial institutions and she has advocated for colonizing Mars. That's not what real Democrats stand for. The Texas Democratic Party does not support the candidacy of Kesha Rogers or anyone that aligns themselves with the LaRouche Movement. Our State Democratic Executive Committee even issued a resolution against her campaign. Do not vote for Kesha Rogers in the primary. Rogers' candidacy is a insult to our Party, our President, our state, our Democratic values, and to all the work you are doing to move our state forward. Do not vote for Kesha Rogers.
