We will be including on the summer reading list for all middle school students the book, No Summit out of Sight: The True Story of the Youngest Person to Climb the Seven Summits. This book will be available at the Scholastic Book Fair, and students are encouraged to purchase the book now to support the book fair. The cost of this paperback is $7.99. This inspiring young adult memoir offers many opportunities for interdisciplinary work, particularly in math, geography, and science. During the first few weeks of the school year, students in grades six, seven, and eight will participate in mixed grade literature circles. If we have any mountain climbers in our extended Saint Lawrence community, please let us know as we'd love to have someone share their firsthand experiences with students. We are excited about the opportunities to build community and learning around the ideas in this book.
