Online buyers, a growing market
 
We’ve gathered some of the most current information available about online shoppers. The number of online shoppers is expected to grow from 137 million in 2010, to 175 million in 2016. This year more than half of consumers expect to do at least some of their holiday shopping online. Online holiday shopping is expected to grow from $92 billion last year to $96 billion this year. Cyber Monday surpassed Black Friday as the biggest shopping day of the year for the first time in 2011.

Some interesting facts about online buyers:

44% of people research and buy products online,
51% of people research online, and buy at retail stores,
32% of people will research online, visit the store to view the product, and then buy it online,
Over 40% of mobile device owners have made a purchase in response to an email promotion that they viewed on their smartphone or tablet,
80% of online shoppers and 71% of in-store shoppers say email offers influence their purchases,
74% of holiday retailers are using email to get customers to cash in on deals.
