There are a vast number of mailing lists on the market, many of them comprised of new movers. But wouldn’t it be nice to reach people before they move?
Avrick Direct compiles a weekly hotline list of approximately 85,000 people who are PRE–MOVERS. This list contains 100% homeowners, who have just listed their homes for sale.
The average new homeowner will spend $9,400 as a result of the move. About half of that takes place in the 3 months leading up the actual move date, and the balance in the 3 months after the moving date.
The median number of days a home is “on the market”, from listing day to closing day, is 92 days. That means that 50% of the homes will sell within 3 months. And that means the people who have just listed their home for sale have to begin immediately to make plans for the upcoming move.

Obviously moving companies thrive on this data. There isn’t anywhere else to get such qualified leads of people who are already planning their move. Every new homebuyer needs a new mortgage, title insurance, and homeowner’s insurance.
The cable and satelliteTV companies find these names sensational. The same is true for building supply “big box” stores. Home security companies, as well as water systems companies want to reach pre-movers.
There are literally hundreds of types of businesses that are looking for pre-mover names.
The various types of contractors: painters, plumbers, electricians, solar panel installers, pest control, lawn and pool services all want to reach this large market. Carpeting and draperies retailers know that a large percentage of these homeowners will make a substantial pre–move purchase for their new homes.
• 12% of these pre-movers will replace their cars prior to their move,
• 57% will buy new furniture,
• 55% will buy new appliances,
• 35% will buy new bedding, and
• 35% will buy some type of flooring.
