Most readers of this newsletter are immersed in or anticipating "The Holiday Season" -- as the time between Thanksgiving and the New Year has become known. In spite of my best intentions, I am never ready for this season. For me it takes awhile for it to feel like "
the most wonderful time of the year", as the song goes. This year, though, it is helping me to think of a phrase I love from Marshall Rosenberg about a simple purpose of
Nonviolent Communication - "making life wonderful". At his time of the year we do give special attention and time to making life wonderful for one another -- and that is a wonderful thing!
When we want to make life wonderful, we give quality attention to our connections with one another. Thinking about our connections, I am reminded of "
Brain Power", a ten-minute video I shared with my niece. It made me think of her and her 20-month old son. She responded: "So many connections and every interaction counts!" Indeed! I hope you will be able to take time to enjoy the video. Take in the images of the developing human brain of a child and the emerging global brain of the internet. Let them stir images of your own personal and professional connections in this world. May this "holiday season" be filled with a multitude of interactions that make life wonderful for you, your loved ones, and all you carry with special care in your heart.
