Early Head Start/Childcare Partnerships
Lake FRC, through its Early Head Start Program, is recruiting Childcare provider partners, either Center-based, or family childcare homes, who are interesting in providing comprehensive services to their families. Partners may be either public or private providers. They will be required, with the financial and services support from Lake FRC Early Head Start through the grant, to meet the Early Head Start Performance Standards, including eligibility, ratios and education standards. We are focused on providers providing infant-toddler care in the South County area, but will consider infant-toddler providers in other areas of the County as well. For more information contact Lake Family Resource Center at 707-279-0563 or email gloriaf@lakefrc.org. Providers need to be currently receiving subsidies for children in their care.

Raising the Bar for Early Education
NIEER Preschool Matters Blog
Is early education and care a profession or not? The debate has dogged the field for decades. Positions taken by the workforce and organizations representing their interests seldom come to full agreement in scenarios reminiscent of the "tastes great; less filling" debates. This in-fighting, often played out between public pre-K, Head Start, and child care, does not center around the acknowledged value of the workforce's intentions, efforts or contributions; rather, it stems from the field's failure to consider what actually qualifies as a profession and its willingness to take it to the next level. Too often, terms such as "job," "occupation," and "career" are used interchangeably with "profession," only clouding the issue. Read more.

Lake County Child Care Map
Time for an update
The Child Care map is a visual map of the entire county, and has an icon representing child care programs in the county. We implemented this feature in 2011 which gives contact and program information about each program shown. Click here to view map.
We want to keep this useful marketing tool and data resource as current as possible. If your program is listed on the map please check your information and let us know if we need to edit anything of the information. If your program is not listed but you would like your program included on the website please send the information to lallen@lakecoe.org.
