FROM OUR CEO
Greetings!

Donna MartinAt Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, 2013 is off to a fast start. This year's theme is ToGetHerThere, an initiative aimed at creating equal leadership opportunities for girls within a generation. As a communtiy, we have to support girls today so they will become empowered leaders in the future.

What better way to help girls get their first "taste" of leadership than with the Cookie Program. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the world, and it teaches girls skills that they will use throughout their lives.

Girls learn people skills by asking adults to purchase cookies, money management by calculating orders and keeping track of payments and goal setting by deciding how many boxes they'd like to sell and working hard to reach that goal. By supporting the Girl Scout Cookie Program, you get to enjoy delicious cookies while helping girls learn these and many other skills they need to become leaders.

Because it's cookie season, we've got some great cookie-related events coming up. February 8 is the first National Girl Scout Cookie Day, where girls all across the country will speak in a single voice about what the Cookie Program does for girls and their communities. We've even created a special order card for girls to use when taking orders from Feb. 4-March 17.

Local chefs will once again create yummy desserts from Girl Scout Cookies at Dessert First on February 21. This year, we are honoring Marilyn Fox and Monsanto Fund for their continued support of Girl Scouting, and Julia Brose and Melissa LaChance are our scholarship winners.

If you missed the initial cookie order taking, you can get all of your favorite cookies at our Girl Scout Cookie Booths, which will be open from February 27-March 17. Near the end of February, you can go to our website to find a booth near you.

We hope you'll continue to support Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri so we can turn today's girls into tomorrow's leaders.

Best Wishes,

Donna K. Martin
CEO, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri
