Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey's Annual Champion Schools Program |
Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey
The Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey's Annual Champion Schools Program puts NJ's teens in the driver's seat. This year, 59 high schools from 16 counties participated in our peer-to-peer program where they create safe driving campaigns in their schools, community and beyond. These diverse projects focused on the causes of teen crashes and offered solutions to reduce the number of teen injuries and fatalities on our roadways. Over the past 5 years, the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey has worked with almost 120 schools in every county of the state, creating a strong network of schools who are driving safety advocates.
Special congratulations go out to our three Grand Prize Winners: Jackson Memorial High School, Red Bank Regional High School and the Lenape Regional High School District will win driving simulators for their schools.
The Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey is grateful for the support of our sponsors. We invite new schools to join us by applying now for next year!

BLUE CARD DUPLICATE SCHEME | Please let Maureen Nussman know if students are asking for "another blue card" to give to their insurance agent. Blue cards go to MVC or commercial driving schools only!
Having specifically checked with representatives from NJ Manufacturers, State Farm, and Allstate, insurance companies DO NOT require or receive the blue card (or copy of), nor do they want them. In order to process a good student discount, discount for completion of 30 hours of classroom or discount for 6 hours of behind the wheel training, the insurance companies only require a certificate signed by the school indicating the student has completed 30 hours of classroom or has completed the 6 hour behind the wheel driver training course. (Of course, if they have a permit, they have already passed the written test!)
The only reason to provide a duplicate blue card is if the student has lost it prior to completing the 6 hour behind the wheel driver training program. (If they have a permit, they have completed it!) If you do need to provide a duplicate, after verifying that it was in fact lost (perhaps get a signed letter from the parent), then MAKE SURE YOU DOCUMENT THE DUPLICATES AND THE NUMBERS! You and your certification are on the line!

Introducing the World's First Teen Driving Calendar! |
June 2015
This calendar was written and designed by a Defensive Driving Instructor to combat the #1 Killer of 15-20 year olds in the U.S., by teaching K-12 students about how to avoid what causes 90% of crashes...Mental Error.
In addition, the calendar aims to alert Educators and Parents about the deadliest times of year (Prom Season, Summer Vacation etc.) for our Teenage Drivers. Please download and print each month and use it as a teaching tool.
PS: Studies have shown that kids start learning to drive as Toddlers, so it's never too early to start teaching them to 'Drive Mentally'. July calendar August calendar |
