Pre-registration Deadline: 2/15/15!

Greetings!

 

Excitement is building as the NJAHPERD Convention Planning Committee finalizes the details of the upcoming professional development event. Over 600 professionals have pre-registered, the exhibitors space is sold out and speakers are ready to provide you with the best content specific sessions ever!

 

In order to make your experience at the convention the best it can be, we have a few suggestions. Badge pick up will be easy IF your membership is current AND we have received payment or a hard copy of the purchase order.

 

Don't wait in a long line! Before you arrive at Ocean Place Resort...

 1. Pre-Register online! All members must register online and agree to liability waiver.

 2. Make sure your NJAHPERD membership is current.

 3. If you are paying by Purchase Order, we MUST have a hard copy or you will not be given entry. 

 4. Review the session descriptions online and plan your schedule.

 5. Know your shirt size for easy pick up of complimentary NJAHPERD t-shirt! S-M-L-XL

 

 Other tips that may help...

  •  Arrive early and carpool if possible. Attendee list 
  •  Wear professional, comfortable attire for participation and smile for the camera!
  •  Bring an empty flashdrive to upload speaker resources or $10 to purchase one.
  •  Filming of sessions is not permitted, so have a notepad/iPad. We will provide a pen.
  •  Reserve your hotel room before 2/15 to receive the convention rate.

There is an option to register for Pre-Convention Only sessions only if you are NOT attending the Convention on Monday & Tuesday.

Pre-registration is REQUIRED.

All registered have received a code to complete the necessary online requirements. If you have NOT received that code, please contact Bob at LifeSavers, Inc.as soon as possible.

Ahoy Mateys!  NJAHPERD has an adventure for you! Get your brain and your booty moving with our Pirate Scavenger Hunt. Various locations in the hotel will be turned into checkpoints where there will be activities for your team. Each checkpoint will help you fill up your team's Scavenger Hunt Treasure Map. Treasures will be awarded for the pirate team that finishes first and a full map can earn you a chance in a raffle. So come join in the excitement, get active and batten down the hatches!

Future Professionals Scholarship Opportunity

Want to attend the convention for FREE? All full-time students or recently graduated and unemployed professionals are invited to apply for a scholarship to attend the NJAHPERD Annual Convention.  Please complete the online application before 2/15 and you will be notified via email once the selection committee has made the decision.

 

Next step: Register for the convention, pay the convention registration fee, and if you are a scholarship recipient, NJAHPERD will refund your credit card after the convention.

 

Requirement: You will be expected to attend one full day of sessions and write a brief paragraph on your experience.

Get FIT @ School- Building an Inclusive Wellness Policy

Get FIT @ School has developed an inclusive school wellness policy toolkit for health and physical education educators that empower school districts to ensure that all students have access to healthier options. Select resources within the toolkit will be shared with attendees to assist them with overcoming barriers faced when increasing physical activity and healthy eating among students with special needs. Best Practices to Promote Physical Activity in After-School Programs

Evidence-based best practices for providing physical activities in an after-school program will be discussed and modeled. Participants will engage in various physical activities that emphasize the wellness concepts of nutrition, hygiene, and peer communication. Give kids a great start. Help set your kids up for success by giving them a body and brain boost with the BOKS before-school physical activity program. The BOKS before-school physical activity program is designed to jump start kids' brains and prepare them for a day of learning. The program combines play, physical activity, team games and short talks on nutrition to create healthier habits for children to achieve life-long fitness.

 

Let's Move in the Classroom

In line with the Let's Move! Active Schools initiative, implementing classroom-based physical activity (PA) is one strategy to increase children's daily PA. Additionally, classroom-based PA is effective in improving children's on-task behavior. This presentation introduces teachers to a variety of classroom-based activities that can be incorporated throughout the school day.

 

Transforming Classroom Engagement with Interactive Brain Breaks
