Processing for PE Teachers

9AM-12PM

Angel Krimm, Project Adventure

Are you looking for fun and active ways to engage students in thinking about what they've experienced in your adventure-based physical education class? Do you struggle to find time to help students process what they have learned? Come to this adventure-based workshop to learn active tools and methods that can be integrated into the body of your lessons to help students process the experience of PE.
Many teachers use adventure methods as a component of their physical education programs. For adventure to be effective, it is necessary to help students reflect on what they have learned. Through this workshop we hope to help teachers develop their processing skills, giving them concrete tools and resources to integrate processing into all that they do. Teachers will discover that processing can be part of a lesson; not necessarily just at the end of a lesson. We will also show how processing can be active and engaging.
Our processing model is based on the work of David Kolb who has a four-step process for experiential learning: doing, reflecting, analyzing and applying. This model will be brought to life in this workshop. Fee: $15.00
