Best Herbs for a Robust Winter

Greetings!

Herbs and seeds are used regularly in Ayurveda to detoxify and to tonify,   In the Spring we want to detoxify, but in these Winter Vata months,we primarily build and fortify.  Herbs and seeds are power-packed representatives of nature's intelligence.  Think about it, a seed holds its energy and coherence for more than a year.  We can use herbs and seeds in our cooking or in powder or tablet form to find healing balance in nature's infinite intelligence.
Recently I participated in additional training on the power of herbs with K. P. Khalsa author of The Way of Ayurveda Herbs.  With Khalsa, we learned about herbs for: daily essential health, detoxification, robust strength, sex and romance, clear conscious mind and spirit, and digestion for nourishment.  My respect for the power of Ayurveda herbs for our health and well-being expanded greatly and personally I increased my use of daily herbs with good results. I plan to write more about herbs in the Radiant Life Ayurveda  newsletter and offers workshops as I am impressed with their role in our radiant health.

Banyan Botanicals offers high quality Ayurveda herbs and they just released an offer for a 10% off coupon in November so I wanted to get it to you. If you have an interest in adding herbal treatments to your Winter regimen, here are top herbs to consider.

Triphala
- The most common herb formula  in all of Ayurveda and perhaps in all the world. Take at bedtime for healthy digestion, elimination, and weight management. Triphala cleanses and nourishes. For most people, taking triphala nightly is advised.  You should notice a lighter, cleaner feeling throughout with regular use.

Triphala Guggulu
- All the benefits of triphala plus the special effects of guggulu which pulls out deeper toxins especially in the joints (joint pain).

Ashwagandha --  For energy and vitality and to calm an over-reactive stress response. Ashwagandha is a revered adaptogen  and is said to build muscles and give you the strength of a horse.  Also supports a healthy libido and mental coherence as well as promotes healthy sleep.  Ashwagandha is prized in Ayurveda

Healthy Vata-- Can be used year round for Vata imbalances and in the Winter to offset the vata environment.

Vata Digest
-- Take with meals.  Contains herbs to heat and ground Vata in the digestive process.

I Sleep Soundly
-- Soothes the mind and body for natural, restful sleep

Immune Support
-- Strengthens the immune system and detoxes the blood and lymph systems for a healthy Winter

Tranquil Mind
--  Calms the mental agitation, anxiety, and nervousness that can accompany excess Vata.

These herbs are the most common ones that I recommend to clients at this time of year.  You may find something here to support your radiant health in Vata season.  Some herbs may be contraindicated for you.  Please be sure to read about this at the Banyan site or contact me if you have questions.

To do the proper fortifying needed during this season, we must pacify the dry, light Vata.   We can do that with diet, lifestyle, and herbs.
