Health care team is an oft-invoked phrase these days.  Over thirty years ago EPCMS started recognizing the team approach to patient care with our annual award for Excellence in Nursing.
  
Nominate a worthy professional nurse for this award today.  RNs and APNs as well as LPNs are eligible.  Nominations are due by December 15 and should be submitted to EPCMS.  EPCMS is bringing you a chance to recognize a worthy professional in this issue.

600 Notifications on Potential Doctor-Shopping issued by PDMP
  
Over 600 prescribers and pharmacies received a notification  from the Colorado Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) that a patient they treat obtained potentially dangerous amounts of controlled substances from multiple prescribers and pharmacies.   
In one instance, a patient obtained over 1,600 pills of oxycodone and hydrocodone in one month.
