Memo to adult primary care practices
By Rip Hollister, M.D. (for the Physicians Foundation)
Colleagues  |  Community  |  Costs
Honestly, I am just too busy to be interested in most offers that come to my practice. I hope that you will make an exception for this opportunity to easily qualify for a $600 grant, pick up some cool FREE technology, and receive practice support from this Physicians Foundation sponsored program called Technology Supported Health Confidence (TSHC).

I am a primary care doc in Colorado Springs, and the only Family Physician on the Board of Directors of the Physicians Foundation. The PF goal is to help folks like you and me who ACTUALLY PRACTICE MEDICINE.  They are convinced of the benefit of TSHC to small practices, and they have asked me to demonstrate its potential within our state before a national program is considered. Health Confidence is an easy concept to understand, and is the subject of this month's Family Practice Management lead article .

For your practice to benefit from this demonstration project, qualify for up to $600 in grant funds, and compete for one of the GRAND PRIZES ($1,000 to the top practice) you only need to complete three simple steps:
1. Register
2. Pick 2 people from your patient population
3. Use HowsYourHealth.org.  This technology immediately and automatically serves patient needs and helps them become more health confident.

What's News

Medical Reserve Corps of El Paso County (MRCEPC) provides an opportunity to strengthen our community by being pre-identified and prepared to respond as a volunteer.

Mobilized during the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fires, MRCEPC volunteers provided 2,100 hours of volunteer medical and behavioral health support at shelters, disaster assistance centers, town hall meetings and as residents returned to their devastated neighborhoods.

In April the Colorado Legislature presented a resolution to the 144 volunteers in recognition of their efforts.

"We have a great community in Colorado Springs," Rep. Bob Gardner said after the resolution was read. "We take care of each other....the Medical Reserve Corps of El Paso County will be ready if needed and will continue to serve as a model
for the rest of the country."

As a fully integrated component of the Colorado Springs area emergency response system, MRCEPC's trained volunteers serve as a force multiplier. Public health officials have estimated that it would cost local agencies at least $1.5 million annually to do what MRCEPC does on less than $10,000 a year.

MRCEPC was created on Sept. 12, 2001, in response to the 9/11 terror attacks. EPCMS, whose Foundation houses MRCEPC, recognized immediately the need for our community to integrate all parts of our local health care community in disaster.
