Half the states sought to overturn the reform law. This decision upheld one of the more controversial provisions-  that Congress has the power to compel individuals to purchase insurance as a tax levied on people who do not have health insurance.

The decision clears the way for insurance exchanges, and requiring nearly all Americans to carry health insurance starting in 2014.

Sincerely,

Mike Ware, Executive Vice President
