A Brief History of Stress

The term "stress", as it is currently used, was coined by Hans Selye in 1936, who defined it as "the non-specific response of the body to any demand for change". New Leadership Elected

Three times a year EPCMS brings together members and the wider community for the Physician Connection, an evening of education and collegiality.  Last month, we also had the pleasure of electing new members to the EPCMS Board of Directors.

A nominating committee composed of existing Board members reviews positions, considers the needs and priorities of our growing medical society, and invites members to apply for Board positions.

The following physicians were elected to the El Paso County Medical Society Board of Directors at the May Physician Connection, and take office at the installation ceremony at the September 19, 2012, Physician Connection:

John Reasoner, M.D., President

Trent Hovenga, M.D. President Elect

David Ross, D.O., Vice President

David Richman, M.D., Treasurer

Ken Finn, M.D., Member At Large

Professional Review Intact Thanks to You

On May 9 the Professional Review Sunset Bill, HB 1300, officially passed both chambers of the Colorado legislature and went to the Governor's desk. This is entirely due to you and the other physicians who contacted your senators and representatives.

Physicians statewide stood up and said to the legislature that the ability to critically evaluate care in a nonjudgmental environment, free from repercussions in a litigation-happy society, is a common sense and balanced approach to holding physicians accountable while creating a culture of care improvement.
