I don't know about you, but the last two years of the first quarter have been outstanding for my firm. This year is shaping up to be another fast start. My theory is that sellers are interested in going to market once they finish their tax year, and they have a sense of where they ended up with their revenue and profit. Therefore, now is the best time to increase your marketing. Giving out information has always been a successful way to engage with potential sellers. One way to do this is to send out M&A market information that you may derive from the survey findings we generate in cooperation with the prestigious Pepperdine University from the Market Pulse Survey. All you have to do is participate in the survey, and you will receive a copy filled with data you can use to share with existing and prospective clients to help you appear as the local M&A expert. This is a great quote by Douglas Adams, the famed author of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It reminds me that it is never too late to get ahead in your planning. Planning is important because it leads to action. And action leads to progress. And progress leads to achievement of goals.
These are good thoughts anytime, but particularly at the start of a new year. For me, a new year has always been a time of personal and professional renewal and optimism. For many of us who are members of our professional association, it is also the start of a new program year and a chance to work with new board members. It's going to be a banner year for M&A Source in both the areas of education and networking. Please consider these three simple resolutions that will improve your M&A Source experience and just may improve your year:

The M&A Source is dedicated to being your bridge to success. The building blocks that were used to construct this bridge include networking, learning, mentoring and improvement opportunities. Our annual Spring & Fall Conferences for Professional Development are tools that incorporate each of those building blocks.
Dora Lanza and the 2012 Conference Planning Committee presented two outstanding conferences last year (San Antonio & Las Vegas). We hope to follow up on the success of those two conferences with the two we are planning for this year.

Our Spring Conference will be held June 10th through the 15th at the Anaheim Hilton. Check it out! It's right across the street from Disneyland.
Then for the first time in a couple of years, we'll go back to the east coast for our Fall Conference: Savannah, GA. We will be at the Hyatt Regency River Front November 18th through the 23rd.
