Chairman's Message

 My fellow M&A associate,
As you know, we just returned from an incredible conference in Las Vegas. It was a historic conference, as we are celebrating our 20th anniversary of the M&A Source, all started by the legendary Darrell Fouts and 60 of his fellow associates, who contributed $500 each to form our association. We also had the honor of hosting twelve of our past chairman, going back to 1996 when Ron Chernak was heading the M&A Source.
There were five educational classes offered, multiple panels, and opportunities to visit with PEGs and present our qualified clients. I could go on and on about the conference, mentioning everything we gained from what was presented, but it is something that needs to be experienced to realize all of the benefits. I came away with new friends, strong education, and many opportunities to work with PEGs interested in investing in several of my clients.

Executive Director's Report

As Chet Walden mentions in his newsletter article, we had a tremendously successful fall conference in Las Vegas three short weeks ago. It was successful for attendees for education, relationship building, and business development purposes. It was also successful financially for the M&A Source in that it produced a profit that funds provision of all other benefits of membership that you enjoy year round.
While I wanted to meet and thank all the attendees for being there and all the Middle Market Expo exhibitors for their support, I ultimately decided it would be best if I just stayed out of the way most of the time for fear of interrupting anything. You could sense the successful business happening and see firsthand the networking that was taking place.

 We are almost at the end of another year, and like many of you, just attended a very memorable M&A Source Conference in Las Vegas commemorating the 20th anniversary of the M&A Source. Being the Source's very first M&A Source only conference, I was delighted to see many new faces, as well as many old faces I had not seen for some time.
I was most humbled to receive the M&A Source Chairman's Award from your Chairman of the Board, Mr. Chet Walden. What that meant to me was evidence of what is possible when two minds, two boards, two brands, two associations, have respect for each other and work harmoniously to achieve a common goal: "Provide indispensable value to our respective members at an affordable cost."
This was a great conference with much energy and some memorable moments.
On behalf of the IBBA Board of Directors, I want to congratulate your Chairman Chet Walden, your Board, your Conference Planning Chair Dora Lanza and her dedicated committee, our Executive Director Karl Kirsh and ME staff, and all those who dedicated their time and input in creating a successful conference. It makes us all a proud family!

Giving Thanks
Well, another year has almost passed us by. It's hard to believe that it's already November, a month that brings many issues to the forefront of our consciousness. To name just a few issues, those of us who live in the United States should be cognizant of the national election, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. I ask that you bear with me because I have a lot to be thankful for.
Without delving too deeply into politics, I am thankful to live in a country that promotes freedom of expression and protects our rights, including that of free speech. Regardless of your political persuasion or the election results, I hope you took advantage of your right to vote and expressed your opinion during the 2012 election. I am thankful for our veterans and the sacrifices they have made. I am also thankful for the men and women in uniform who protect us today and will do so again tomorrow. The Darrell Fouts Award

 For those of you who are not familiar with the Darrell Fouts Award, it is presented to a person or entity that has made a significant contribution to our M&A profession. The award is named in honor of Darrell Fouts, the first Chairman of the M&A Source.
In honor of the contributions made by Darrell Fouts to the M&A Source, an award was created in his name by past Chairman Robert (Bob) Gurrola and in 2001, Darrell was the first recipient. The Darrell Fouts Award is presented to a person or entity that has made a significant contribution to our M&A profession.
In honor of the association's 20th anniversary, the M&A Source Board of Directors and the Awards Committee have chosen two deserving men to become recipients of this prestigious award - Fred Zirkle and Robert Groag.

Message From Liz Fouts
 Thank you so much for the invitation to speak at the 20th anniversary of the founding of the M&A Source. Darrell was so pleased to be instrumental in the start of this group. Our happy memories were of attending the twice-a-year conferences and meeting with our old friends and sharing ideas.
My daughters appreciated the acknowledgement of their dad too, as they always admired him for his "go for it attitude" among other attributes. They got to go to several conferences, to enjoy each city we were in, and to meet our business broker friends.
Thank you for the crystal vase and commemorative plaque beneath it. I shall always cherish it.

Another Exceptional Conference- Honoring 20 Years of Past Chairs
Members of the M&A Source recently convened for our semi-annual Fall Conference and Middle Market Expo in Las Vegas, and commemorated the 20th anniversary of the M&A Source honoring past chairs.
The conference was a great success as we welcomed over 170 attendees from all over the world. The conference followed the M&A Source's tradition of providing quality and value to our members. The energy of the conference was exhilarating as attendees took in the program, participated in the various courses and workshops, networked and pitched their deals.
