Welcome Back Dance Chaperones Needed

Thank you to our parents who have volunteered to chaperone the 7th/8th grade Welcome Back Dance taking place on Friday September 18th.

We are looking for 1 -  2 more parents to chaperone the dance. Your role will be to assist Mr. Gibson with monitoring hallways around the dance. (You will not have to interact with your children!)

If you would like to chaperone, please contact Frani Aufiero.

A Case for Smiles

During the weeks of 9/14 and 9/21 the students at VFMS will be doing their part to support a good cause.  A Case for Smiles (caseforsmiles.org), formerly known as ConKerr Cancer, is an organization that is dedicated to helping sick children cope with the stress of their illnesses and injuries.  Volunteers help make whimsical pillowcases that give children an emotional boost during a tough time.  The organization was originally started to honor the memory of former Valley Forge student Ryan Kerr.

On Thursday, September 17th Case for Smiles will be having its 1 Millionth Pillowcase Celebration.  Students will be able to purchase a sticker to show their support.  The sticker will cost a minimum of a $1.00 - anything additional is welcome.  By purchasing this sticker, students are then able to participate in PJ Day on Friday, September 18th.  Students are still expected to wear pajamas that are appropriate for school.  Long flannel pants and t-shirts or sweatshirts will be the most acceptable attire.  Please, NO SLIPPERS!

On Friday night, at the 7th and 8th grade Welcome Back Dance, students will still be able to donate to the cause.  A collection jar will be placed at the snack table.  The dance is not a PJ dance. Regular, casual attire is expected to be worn at the dance.

Collections will continue the following week.

Case for Smiles and the Valley Forge community thank you in advance for your support!

overload Arch Programming: "Is This Normal?"

Is This Normal?
Wednesday, September 16, 2015

ARCH invites you to a presentation and discussion about the stress and anxiety in our families.  The presentation will discuss how to evaluate if the stressors in your child's life, and their reactions, are "normal" or something that needs to be addressed.  We hope to offer take-away strategies to help your child (and possibly you) understand, cope, and manage stress and/or anxiety.

Young Entrepreneurs Academy

Does a young person you know have the next BIG IDEA or have what it takes to be an entrepreneur?
If so, nominate them for Young Entrepreneurs Academy! and help them turn their ideas into a reality!
Whether it is a great invention idea, a concept for a new business or a way to solve one of our planet's problems, YEA! is the place to go! We accept young entrepreneurs between the ages of 11 and 18 years.

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a groundbreaking year-long afterschool program that teaches students all of the skills necessary to launch and run their own real businesses through a proven, projects-based curriculum.  The fun hands-on program meets weekly at Rosemont College, after school and helps go-getters in grades 6-12 identify their passions, transform their ideas into fully formed businesses or social movements and develop lifelong leadership skills. Sponsored by The Greater Philadelphia Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs, the Haverford Area YMCA and the Foundation of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, the YEA! program empowers local ambitious area students to become REAL entrepreneurial success stories through a competitive application process.

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy is making waves not only here in the Greater Philadelphia area, but also across the country. YEA! Students have launched more than 3,000 real businesses in America. One of our local young CEO's went to the finals in Washington DC and got an audition on Shark Tank!

To nominate a student for this prestigious program, click and fill out the nomination form and we will do the rest.

For more information on YEA!, visit www.yeaphiladelphia.org or call Ellen Fisher at 215-628-3875. Applications are available online.
