Food Allergy Awareness Week
May 18-22 is Food Allergy Awareness Week at VFMS
The Sixth- grade leadership seminar is helping our nurse, Mrs. Richardson, raise awareness for food allergies. For Food Allergy Awareness Week we will ask you to wear a specific color each day according to what day of the week it is. The colors are as follows: Monday: Wear WHITE for dairy Tuesday: No school/ Teacher In-service Wednesday: Wear YELLOW to represent gluten Thursday: Wear TAN or BROWN to represent nuts Friday: Wear PINK or RED to represent seafood You will receive a raffle ticket at lunch if you clearly wear the color for that day. YOU MUST WEAR LOTS of that color, not just a little bit to qualify. Your ticket will be placed in a bin and ONE NAME will be drawn per grade per day. At the end of each day, the 4 grade winners will be announced, and then you can pick up your prize. You could a win a $5 gift card to Kiwi, Starbucks, Five Below, Panera, or Chipotle! ________________________________________________
__________________________________________________________________
We also want you to learn some FACTS about FOOD ALLERGIES. During Food Allergy Awareness week you should look all around school for colored papers with INFO about each type of food allergy. Every day a TRIVIA question based on these facts will be read on morning announcements. Your HOMEROOM will record group answers all week long, and on Friday all HOMEROOMS who get these 100% correct will be entered in a prize drawing. The winning homeroom will receive gift bags for each member. Click here to learn more about food allergies. |

Join Valley Forge Middle School's PTO Board!
We would love you to join us! The VFMS PTO is seeking enthusiastic and creative and individuals to join the board. We are in particular need of:
- a VP of Communications and Volunteers who would be responsible for maintaining the website with our professional external provider
- an Executive VP to shadow the President with a view to taking over the Presidency in 2016
- a Treasurer to shadow the current incumbents prior to resuming the roles during the 2016-2017 school year
- VP Fundraising to shadow the current incumbents prior to resuming the roles during the 2016-2017 school year
- VP Socials to shadow the current incumbents prior to resuming the roles during the 2016-2017 school year.
A lot of the work involved in these positions can be done from home at times convenient for you.
We hold monthly PTO meetings which it is useful to attend and we try to schedule these to accommodate as many board members as possible. An added advantage is that the meetings are typically attended by the Principal, Matt Gibson, so it is a great opportunity to get a feel for what is going on at the school. Joining the board is a fantastic way to get involved in the life of Valley Forge Middle School and to help shape PTO events and activities for our children. If you would like to find out more, please contact Sarah Culbert at 610-608-8501. |
