The 24 Competition is Coming for Our 6th Graders!! Need Volunteers!
To Volunteer - Click Here!
It is just a few short weeks until our 6th graders will be involved in our annual "24 Game School Tournament". "24" is a critical thinking game in which students must make mental computations and find patterns.
The VFMS 6th Grade 24 competition is coming Friday, April 25th. Volunteers will need to be available from 12:15 - 2:30 p.m. on the day of the event. The proctors will oversee the game and will help tally scores at the end of each round.
WE NEED YOU - without the support of approximately 50-60 volunteers, we are unable to hold the competition.
We are accepting proctors immediately-- MARK YOUR CALENDARS now and decide if you are able to help us out! We will certainly take more than one family member from each household. In the past, we have had aunts, uncles, grandparents, and college-aged siblings, who themselves participated in this fantastic event in middle school-make it a family event!!!
Your child doesn't need to be in 6th grade for you to volunteer. Parents who wish to proctor should simply click below and fill out the online form. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Allison Long.
IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO VOLUNTEER!

Golden Apple Grants
Do you know what a Golden Apple Grant is? Ever heard of them? Well, here is your chance to find out! The VFMS PTO has created a fund to support outstanding and innovative programs, ideas and/or purchases which will enrich the educational experience at VFMS. The standard Golden Apple Grant is $200 and typically up to 10 grants will be made available during each school year.
Do you have an idea we can support? We are accepting grant applications now for the 2013-14 school year. Any member of the VFMS community is welcome to apply including teachers, staff, administrators, parents and of course students. The PTO Board will review submitted applications and grant recipients will be notified and receive funds on a 'first come, first served' basis until all budgeted funds have been allocated.
Please send completed applications to Tarina Mahtab
via email or by hardcopy to the PTO mailbox in the VFMS main office. Questions? Please contact Tarina.

T&E Care Grab Bag Great Success!
The recent T&E Care Kids Clothing Grab Bag was a great success! Thanks so much to all those who made donations of clothing in support of the event, as well as to all those who volunteered to help and to those who came and shopped!! The quantity and quality of the clothing was amazing - offering great selections to everyone who came. T&E Care made around $3400 as a result of the event, but even more importantly, it was a chance to offer great clothes to everyone in our community! Start saving your clothes for next year's Grab Bag! |
