VFMS PTO Blast!
September 2nd, 2013
A Note from Sarah!

Dear VFMS families,

I am so happy to be writing this welcome in my capacity as your new PTO President, taking over from Bridget Tomasicchio who so ably filled the role for the past two years.  I am supported by a wonderful bunch of board members who have already been hard at work even before the academic year has begun.

There seems to be a bit of a myth that middle schools do not want parents to volunteer but nothing could be further from the truth.  We do need you!  We currently have several open committee positions, others will undoubtedly arise during the year and we are always open to new suggestions and ideas

welcome

for fundraising opportunities (thank you to Trish McFillin for organizing the current locker shelf initiative) as well as socials and other initiatives to benefit our students and the VFMS community.  Please take a look at the attached list and contact me at vfmsptopresident@gmail.com if you are interested in helping out or simply wish to put forward a suggestion.  We also need you to attend and support the events we organize, something which should never be underestimated!

We are currently working on our student directory (due to be available early October) and our spirit wear sales.  Orders for these will also be taken at the upcoming curriculum evenings where you will also be able to see samples of our spirit wear and even purchase items then and there.  We will also be hosting Principal Meet and Greets for 5th, 6th and 7th Grade parents - 8th Grade parents get their chance early in the New Year - and we will once again be organizing a Middle School for Dummies session, launched successfully last year, on Wednesday October 2nd.

We hope the 2013-14 school year gets off to a great start for all of the students, faculty and staff at Valley Forge Middle School and look forward to seeing you at our forthcoming events.

Best regards,

Sarah Culbert

VFMS PTO President 2013-14

New Spirit Wear for VFMS!!!

spiritwear
Have you see our NEW Spirit Wear?  It made its debut two weeks ago and is already a hit!  There are two ways you can purchase items.  At both curriculum nights, we will have a table set-up with items on hand for immediate purchase.  This is a great way to see the fantastic quality first hand and judge sizing.  Stop by early though because we sold out quickly during 5th grade schedule pick-up and new family tours!

The second way is by going on the seller's website where you can purchase items directly.  This can be done anytime during the year.

Request for Proof Readers for the Student Directory!

proof reader

We are looking for conscientious and detail oriented individuals to help us with the proof reading of the 2013-14 Student Directory.  This task involves comparing the information on file against Student Verification sheets for that family and demands a strict attention to detail to ensure all information published is correct.  This is a vitally important step in producing an accurate and up-to-date Student Directory and all volunteer help is greatly appreciated.  The proof reading is scheduled to take place between September 17th and September 20th, 2013 to adhere to a tight deadline.  Please contact Cathy Barrios at if you are interested.
