Have fun, meet and make friends, enjoy great food and drink, and support ACLAMO Family Centers and The Culinary Arts Institute of Montgomery County Community College.

The exotic rhythms of the Habanero Latin Band
will sweep you off your feet -- or maybe onto your dancing feet!

The melodic strings of Belmary Lorcas and friends will carry your thoughts to sun-drenched beaches, softly swaying palm trees, the snow-capped Andes and maybe the unforgetable aroma of a steaming cup of mate.

All this while you enjoy food and drink from these chefs, breweries and a winery, who are coming to make your afternoon complete!

ACLAMO AND MONTGOMERY COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Montgomery County Community College works with ACLAMO with the goals of stimulating student interest in academics and helping students plan for study after high school. This cooperative effort has offered ACLAMO students a wide range of experiences on the community college campus.  These include drama, music, astronomy and as well as STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) classes.

ACLAMO middle school students attend science classes to learn about careers in STEM and to try their hand at various experiments.

ACLAMO junior and senior high students enjoyed a performance by "Black Violin".  After training by Community College staff, ACLAMO middle school students served as ushers at the event.

A VISION FOR SECURITY

CarVision.com owners, Dean and Patricia Cafiero, are enthusiastic supporters of the Latino community.  In part, this is due to Patricia's being born in Colombia.  When CarVision.com delivered 100 Holiday hams to ACLAMO in December, Patricia inspired the students by speaking to them in Spanish.  The Cafieros also asked Executive Director Nelly Jimenez if ACLAMO had any particular needs.  Nelly told them of her desire to have a system of security cameras installed at ACLAMO's Norristown location.

Not long thereafter, the Cafieros told Nelly that they would contribute $5,000 for the installation of an excellent system of security cameras.
CarVision.com representatives present the check to Nelly, as Norristown Police representatives Captain Richard Clowser and Gina Davies and students look on.
ACLAMO REACHES POTTSTOWN FAMILIES

In April, ACLAMO was invited by PEAK (Pottstown Early Action for Kindergarten Readiness) and the Pottstown YMCA to participate in the groups' combined "Pottstown Celebrates Young Kids Day / Healthy Kids Day".

Maricruz Clemens, ACLAMO Pottstown Case Manager, and Ana
Roman, ACLAMO Benefits Acquisition Specialist, represented ACLAMO and provided families with descriptions of services available at ACLAMO's Pottstown and Norristown offices.

EMMY AWARD WINNER RESPONDS
WHEN OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS

Her thorough investigative reporting and crisp delivery of the evening news make Iris Delgado,Telemundo 62 news reporter and anchor, a favorite of Spanish speaking viewers in the Delaware Valley.
Iris Delgado

When people tell her that she has been lucky, Iris likes to remind them that luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.  Iris has always been alert for opportunities.

Iris moved to Florida from Puerto Rico when she was 15 years old and for the first time she found herself living in two worlds, the Anglo and the Latino. Even as she experienced the barriers which confront those moving to the mainland, Iris immersed herself in academics and sports and found that she communicated well with people of many different cultural backgrounds.  That's when she began to seek a career which would allow her to encourage people to overcome cultural barriers.

Taking advantage of the opportunity for higher education, Iris enrolled in the University of Florida where she majored in Telecommunications/News and obtained a Minor in Latin American Politics, becoming the first one in her family to obtain a Bachelor's Degree . At age 19, she was named "Miss Hispana Internacional" and mentored young girls, convincing them that the true beauty of a woman is beyond the physical; it is in the spirit and the intellect.

Upon graduating, Iris became a reporter for Univision in Orlando, Florida. There, she worked hard to gain an interview with the survivor of a mass shooting and was awarded an Emmy for her special report "At Death's Door". In 2013, another opportunity presented itself when Iris was recruited by Telemundo to become part of its Philadelphia news team.

In Philadelphia, Iris met ACLAMO's Executive Director Nelly Jimenez and the result was another opportunity - for both Iris and ACLAMO.  "We are very appreciative of the strength and support Iris offers to us," says Jimenez, "We look forward to the excellent opportunity of working with her."
