Facts About Cedar Springs Waldorf School

  • The school was founded in 1989 and just celebrated its 25th Anniversary!

  • The school is located on a five-acre campus just off U.S. Highway 50 and El Dorado Road in Placerville (Approximately 12 minutes from Cameron Park and 17 minutes from El Dorado Hills.)  Click here to get directions. 
     
  • The school is private, nonprofit, and nonsectarian.  Programs offered include Parent & Child classes, Early Childhood (Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten) and First through Eighth Grades.
     
  • The school is fully accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and is a California State Licensed Childcare Facility.
     
  • The school follows a traditional school calendar where classes begin after Labor Day each year and end in the first week of June.  Click here to see our school calendar.    
     
  • Extended Care is available M-F from 12:00 pm to 5:30 pm.  Extended Care is closed during school breaks such as Christmas.

Parent & Child Classes 
Parent Child Snack

Our Parent-Child Program is a wonderful way to introduce your child to a classroom experience, and for parents to learn more about the rich, developmental approach of Waldorf Education.
  

This program is for parents and their children ages birth - 3 years. (Children who turn 3 prior to September 2014 are not eligible for this program.)


Classes are held in 5 or 6-week sessions from September - May.  Call to learn more about current sessions.


 

Nourish

The young child experiences a transition from home life to
the life of a classroom which is a warm, beautiful, and loving environment. Early childhood is a time for play, imagination, rhythm, and nourishment; activities that nurture and prepare children for learning to read, write and develop intellectual thinking.

 

outdoor play - rain or shine, indoor free play, wet-on-wet painting, basic sewing and crafts, nourishing snack, circle games, story time, singing and rhyming

 

 

The Early Childhood Program Includes three classes and children will be placed according to developmental readiness.


Morning Glory Class

3 or 4 days per week (Monday-Wednesday or Monday-Thursday)

Ages:  3 to 5 years and potty trained (age 2.5-3 years at the teachers discretion)

Schedule:  8:15 am - 12:00 pm. 

 

Lily and Rose Classes

3, 4 or 5* days per week

Ages:  3 to 6 year olds (potty trained)

Schedule:  8:15 am - 12:15 pm

*5 days required for children in their final year of Kindergarten 


 

Inspire

Children in grades one through eight are inspired to reach their highest potential as free-thinking, creative human beings who have a life-long love of learning.  They experience an education that integrates academic, artistic, physical and practical activities. 

 

Integrated, exemplary academics are balanced with specialty subjects, field trips, athletics and school festivals that support the development of the whole child.

Achieve

Graduates of Cedar Springs Waldorf School are well prepared and have a variety of choices for high schools:

  • Local schools such as Ponderosa, El Dorado and Union Mine
  • Sacramento Waldorf High School
  • Other private schools such as Jesuit or St. Francis
