What does Bruce Dow, Victor Young, David Lopez, Leslie Arden, David Warrick, Susan Cuthbert, Kristen Pottle, Alison Jantzie, Thomas Alderson, Maya Chiltern and Lara Solnicki have in common?  Not only are these Canada's top international theatre, dance and music artists, but they have all committed themselves to mentoring our summer program students this summer! WOW is right!!! ...and they have all lead with their generous hearts.... Please help us to give professional artists more of what they deserve. 

NST's work and donations are dedicated primarily to mentorship and education. You cannot imagine the impact our programs have made to the development of many fine young people. Our charitable work opens the doors to all, but we have yet to receive any government funding whatsoever in our 11 years of operation.  WE CANNOT DO IT ALONE AND NEED YOUR HELP! When loveable flower shop assistant Seymore stumbles upon a mysteriously strange and unusual plant, he hasn't a clue that it will grow to develop a soulful R&B voice, a potty mouth, and an unquenchable thirst for HUMAN BLOOD (stay with us...)As the self-named plant "Audrey II" grows bigger and meaner, the carnivorous plant promises limitless fame & fortune as long as Seymour continues providing a fresh supply of flesh. Just when it's nearly too late, Seymour discovers love and happiness with real-life co-worker Audrey. But which will he chose? Fame & fortune or Love & Happiness? 
With a company of Toronto's most dynamic young theatre artists. This  mo-town inspired, laugh-a-minute musical classic will surely be the HIT of the summer season.

AUGUST 27 - 29  The Great Canadian Showtune - a Canadian music theatre showcase featuring the works of notable Canadian composers past, present and future. Ticket Sales open July 15th 


Our Emerging Professional Artist production was performed to sold out crowds in its inaugural year.  Now in its second season, we present  The Great Canadian Show Tune!, a musical revue showcasing the work of Canada's top music theatre-makers. From legendary Norman Campbell to the Drowsy Chaperone duo of Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison and from some our most celebrated creators: Leslie Arden, David Warrack, and Garry Williams; The Great Canadian Show Tune! will truly be a celebration of our Canadian music theatre industry's past, present and future. This showcase platform will herald our Canadian Heritage 2016-2017 season of events.  We welcome submissions of Canadian works.  This unique Training-to-Showcase program is open to emerging artists (aged 21 to 30 approximately!).

Our main programs this summer are the Summer Youth Intensive Program and the Emerging Artist Program.  Preliminary auditions for these two programs have yielded a healthy number of eager youths and talented emerging artists in anticipation of the summer programming.  We are all pumped and raring to go!

The Summer Intensive Program for ages 12 to 21 
challenges each student to be the best they can be whilst working as a  collaborative ensemble to gain the very best triple-threat training by internationally acclaimed practitioners as well as cultivate life-long friendships.  It runs from July 11th to August 7th, and we are currently accepting registrations until the end of June.  This year, the production that we will be featuring is Little Shop of Horrors by Menken and Ashman.   Check it out at the TO Centre!Guest Mentors include: Kristen Pottle (Mirvish's Wizard of Oz), David Lopez (Mirvish's Kinky Boots), Lara Solnicki (CBC Jazz Recording Artist), Thomas Alderson (Mirvish's Kinky Boots)
 
This season, our Emerging Artist Program for ages 21 to 30 will feature a Canadian music theatre showcase, featuring the works of notable Canadian composers past, present and future.  The Training-to-Showcase program runs from August 8th to 29th for emerging artists keen to strengthen skills and reinvent themselves whilst cultivating and expanding their network of creative comrades and professional contacts, including the opportunity to work on material with guidance from some  Canada's top music theatre composers: Leslie Arden, Garry Williams, David Warrack.  The No Strings Theatre Emerging Artist Program provides an opportunity for participants with prior experience and a strong interest in musical theatre performance and/or production/creation to explore and develop skills under the mentorship of experienced industry professionals, as well as be part of a full-staged, professionally produced revue-showcase.  
 
New!  Acting for the Camera and Creative Song and Script!
Presenting two new week long programs July 11-15th for ages 11-19 introducing the worlds of acting for the camera and creative writing.
